FUNERAL IS HELD FOR ALEXANDER BAUGUSS State Road Man Passes Friday At Ripe Age of 80 Years Funeral services were held Satur day afternoon at 2 o'clock from Pleasant Ridge Baptist church for Osborne Alexander Bauguss, 80, who passed away late Friday in Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in this city. The deceased was a lifelong resident of the State Road community and had been a mem ber of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist church for the past thirty years. The rites were in charge of Rev. L. B. Murray and interment was in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Kate Cummings Bauguss, and the following sons and daughters: T. V., Dallas and Russell Bauguss, Mrs. Brim Carter, Misses Reba and Annie Faye Bauguss of State Road and Mrs. Bessie Rose of Jonesville. Bethel News Ronda, Route 2., May 14.—An im pressive service was held at the church here last Sunday. It being the regular time for the monthly meeting, the pastor, Rev. R. J. Par due read some scripture verses of several women characters of the Bi ble and talked of "An Ideal Mother". Special songs were sang and an of fering taken for the Baptist hospital at Winston-Salem. A good congre gation at Church and Sunday school, also. 1 Several from here expect to attend the graduation exercises at Ronda this evening. We feel very proud of the fine girls and boys who will graduate from our community this year. Mr. and Mrs. Emery Inscore, of Winston-Salem visited the former's uncle and family, Mr. J. B. Green, last Sunday and attended church here. John Melton is here from West Virginia with his home-folks for a few days. Broadie Jones, of Greensboro, spent the past week-end here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Jones. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Armstrong and Mrs. Louise Ferlazzo, of Winston- Salem, visited Mesdames Armstrong and Ferlazzo's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Gilliam, last Sunday. J. C. Gilliam, of Jonesville, who has been in the State of California for several months in the interest of his health, was here visiting his sister, Mrs. J. T. Triplett and Mr. Triplett. These all attended the ser vices at the church and seemed as happy to come back to this sacred place, where their parents have met so often to worship, as we were to see them. Arnie Durham left last week for High Point where he has accepted a position. Hugh and Robert Green, of Wins ton-Salem, visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Green, and other home-folks last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Lytle Mcßride, of Greensboro, visited their parents here last Saturday. This being Mr. Mcßride's birthday anniversary, his mother, Mrs. John Mcßride had a surprise dinner awaiting him. All his brothers and sisters were there to enjoy this happy occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Gough and daughter, Miss Mary, Prank and lit tle Patsy, are visiting in the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Mauldin. They came to attend the graduation exercises at Ronda high school, of which Miss Lucille Mauldin, neice of Mrs. Gough, is a member. Mr. B. R, Pardue, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Jones and sons, Charles and Eugene, attended the Mothers' Day service at Brier Creek church last Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Elza St. John and children, Joyce and Floyd, of Winston-Salem, visited friends here over the week end. They were former residents of this community. Mrs. St. John said she was glad to come back to the church and home. We were glad to see them. Swan Creek News There was a fairly good attendance at Sunday school last Sunday, there being 164 present. Bruce Gregory who has been a pa tient at the Sanatorium in Winston- Salem for the past two years, re turned to his home last Sunday. His condition is not much improved. Several of our people have been attending the commencement exer cises at Ronda. Mrs. Vina Swaim spent last Sun day in Ronda, the guest of her son, Glenn Swaim, and Mrs. Swaim. Mrs. Jay of the Fall Creek community spent last Supday with Mrs. Carrie Adams. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dobbins, of Cycle, spent last Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Weatherman. Rev. D. C. Swaim, of Winston- Salem, was a visitor here last Wed nesday. Ice Cream Supper There will be an ice cream supper Saturday night. May 19th, in Arling ton, just below the Swaim Filling Station, at the Boonville Road, on highway No. 26. Everybody is cor dially invited. Music will be fur nished by a string band.
