Methodist Group Meeting Friday The circles of the Woman's Mis sionary Society of the Methodist church will meet in regular session in the church Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Mason Lillard Class to Meet Monday The Mason Lillard Bible Class of the Methodist church will meet Mon day evening, August 20, at the home of Mrs. Dave Morrison at Klondike Farm, with Mrs. Alden Hunt asso ciate hostess. Graham Entertains Thursday Afternoon Book Club Members of the Thursday After noon Book Club were delightfully entertained Thursday afternoon by Mrs. F. W. Graham at her home on West Main street. Games and con tests were enjoyed, with the high score prize going to Mrs. George Royall. * A salad course, followed by an ice course, was served late in the after noon to the following members: Mesdames Mason Lillard, Fred Col hard, George Royall, Edworth Har ris, Worth Graham, W. W. Whitaker and Dixie Graham. Jimmy Lillard Celebrates Tenth Birthday Anniversary Honoring their little son, Jimmy, on his tenth birthday anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Lillard enter tained at dinner at their home on Gwyn Avenue Sunday. The lovely table was decorated with summer flowers and a huge birthday cake, topped with ten gleaming tapers. Covers were placed for Master Jimmy, the honor guest, Miss Mar garet Evans and Dr. D. W. Holcomb, of Winston-Salem: Miss Emily Hag ler, of Euchee, Tenn.; Miss Rosa mond Neaves, Misses Sarah Kelly and Thorburn Lillard and Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Lillard. Addie Lee Wall Feted On Ninth Birthday Anniversary Honoring her little daughter, Ad die Lee, on her ninth birthday anni versary, Mrs. Foy Wall entertained at a delightful children's party at her home on Gwyn Avenue Satur day afternoon, having as guests twelve children of a similar age. Outdoor games were enjoyed on the lawn, after which the little guests were invited into the dining room, where they were served ices and cake. Armfield were hosts to the members of the Fort nightly Bridge Club at a bridge-din ner at their home on West Main street Tuesday evening. Following the dinner, bridge was played at three tables with the club award go ing to Mr. and Mrs. Marion Allen. The grand awards for the highest score during a series of meetings, fell to Mrs. C. H. Little Miss Morrison Celebrates Third Birthday Anniversary Little Miss Peggy Lou Morrison celebrated her third birthday anni versary Friday afternoon at her home near Jonesville. A medley of tout-door games were enjoyed and late in the afternoon the little guests were invited into the dining room where they were served tempting refreshments. A color scheme of pink and white was carried out in detail in the ap pointments of the party, the central decoration being a huge birthday cake iced in white and topped with lighted pink candles. Guests enjoying the afternoon with the little honor guest were: Grace Myers, Madelon Newman, Patsy Stroud, Lola Morrison, Betty Tucker, Betty Price, Eloise Tucker, Peggy Myers, Magdaline Price, Del 'a Myers, Annie Lee Morrison, Bet -y Newman, Joe Stroud and Kenneth Vestal. Young entertained the nembers of the Lucy Hanes Chat ham Club and the members of the jaseball club of Chatham Manufac ;uring company at a delightful awn party at her home Thursday evening. Mesdames Arkie Long, Blanche Woodle and Beulah Brown vere hostesses with Mrs. Young, rhe lawn was brilliantly lighted vith pink and green electric lights, iccentuating the club colors. Miss Atkinson Honors Sister at Afternoon Party One of the most elaborate parties of the season was on Monday when Miss Ruth Atkinson entertained at a delightful afternoon party in hon or of her sister, Miss Anna Atkinson of Washington, D. C. Holcomb was hostess to the members of her book club and several additional guests at her home on West Main street Friday evening, having as a special guest, Mrs. Frank Stough of Cornelius. Lovely summer flowers made a pretty background for the six ta bles, which were placed for hearts. Mrs. L. I. Wade won the high score award for the club members and Miss Mattie Mae Powell the conso lation prize. The high and low vis itors' prizes went to Mrs. George Royall and Mrs. Joe Bivins, respect ively. Mrs. Stough was presented with a pair of linen pillow cases as guest of honor. C., who is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Atkinson, was on Tuesday after noon when Mrs. Claude Farrell en tertained at seven tables of bridge at the home of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. R. *L. Harris on West Main street. Bowls of gorgeous dahlias were used throughout the home in the attractive decorative scheme. In the bridge games Miss Kathleen Bailey scored highest and received a double-deck of cards. Miss Atkin son was given powder and Mesdames John Reich and J. N. Freeman, both of Washington, D. C., were given lovely remembrances, as was Mrs. Paul Price, a bride of the summer. When the cards were removed Mrs. Farrell was assisted in serving a beautifully appointed collation in two courses by her sisters, Mrs. Hugh Royall and Miss Betty Harris.
