Hayes of Winston-Salem at the Baptist church on last Sunday morning and at the evening ser vice. Mrs. Bill Hudspeth and daugh ter, Mary Jo, of North Elkin, vis ited her-sister, Mrs. M. M. May berry on Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Blackburn announce the birth of a daughter Doris Glendalene, on Dec. 12 at Hugh Chatham Memorial hospit al. Mother and baby are reported doing nicely. Mr. John Maybe rry and Mr. G. S. Wagoner spent last Wednesday afternoon In Pulaski, Va., attend ing to business matters. Mrs. Julia Wagoner, Miss May Vestal, Mrs. Jim Chappel and Mr. and Mrs. S. D. Kerley of Kenosha, Wis., have arrived to spend the holidays here with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Kirley. Misses Maude Millian and Lor raine Thathil, of Ronda, visited Miss Flora Kate Stroud at the home of her sister, Mrs. W. P. Mc- Bride on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Johnson of Traphill spent the week-end with their daughter, Mrs. Carmel Billings and Mr. Billings. Roberson of Hudson, visited her father, Mr. M. P. Gregory on Sunday. Mr. Greg ory is confined to his home with a deep cold. The friends of Mrs. Marvin Vanhoy will regret to learn that she is ill at this time. Mrs. Alice Macemore is reported very ill at this writing with sinus trouble. v Mr. Manny Day has moved to the Jack Ray farm. Mr. Reggie Myers is in a serious condition at this time. Mr. Dewey Helton left Monday to spend this week with his broth er, Elmer Helton, at Asheville, N. C. The Methodist Circle Meets With Miss Elliot The Ngethodist Women's Mis sionary auxiliary met with Miss Weeta Elliot December 7 at 7:30. Fifteen members were present. Miss Katherine Boles had charge of the program, the subject being "Why I Give to Mission aries." Mrs. Wells read the scrip ture, Cor.: 5:11-21, followed by a song, "Give of Your Best to the Master." Miss Mary Mathis and Mrs. R. G. Boles discussed topics on the subject. Following a business session in charge of Mrs. Weaver a delight ful social hour was enjoyed dur ing which the hostess served re freshments. * Masters School Club Entertained The Parent-Teacher association entertained the Masters School Club of Yadkin county on Thurs day evening, Dec. 9, with a dinner at the local school building. Lady teachers of the grammar grades were special guests of the even ing. Mrs. Eph Whisenhunt of Elkin was the guest speaker and she spoke on "China." All enjoy ed the evening. A three course dinner was ser ved to fifty-four guests. Each table carried out the Christmas decoration with red and green candles and other decorations in Christmas colors. Rath Mayberry and Hilda Gae Renegar Entertain Misses Ruth Mayberry and Hil da Gae Renegar entertained with a party Monday night, Dec. 13th for the Beta Club members at the home of the latter's parents. Early in the evening a business meeting was held and an inter esting program was given by the hostesses before entering the din ing room, lighted with candles, for a salad course. Sweney of Glen] Hope Baptist church at Burling-1 ton, preached a wonderful sermon at our church Saturday night. I Two ladies quartets, also of Glen Hope church furnished special music. The service was greatly enjoyed by everyone pres ent and the church was complete ly filled, even to part of the Sun day School rooms. A local young ladies chorus provided special music for the prayer service Sunday night. We are glad to state that the Sunday School at our church is continually growing in number j and spiritually each Sunday. Everyone is urged to visit us and worship with us. | Mr. Barney Crabb visited In Virginia, Sunday. Mr. Milas Chouch has returned to his work' in Maine. Mr. and Mrs. taeivil Baugess, of Oklahoma, spent last Tuesday night in the home of Mrs. Zora Couch. Miss Manda Miller, of Ronda, was the guest of Miss Paye Cock erham last Wednesday night. Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Couch and Bart Coi.ch visited the latter's sister, Martha Carter in the hos pital at Winston-Salem, Sunday. She Is suffering from injuries re cieved in a fall. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Couch moved into their new home in this community Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Creed visited Mr. and Mrs. David Darn ell Sunday. One or more of the quartets from our church will go to Shoaly Branch next Sunday night. Next Saturday night and Sun day is our regular meeting time.
