BURCH j Miss Lillian Elizabeth Cook and Zeb Vance Patton were married Monday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Chipman at Boonville. Mrs. Patton is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anda Cook of Winston-Salem, Mr. Patton is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Patton of Jones ville, Route 1. Mr. and Mrs. Patton are now at home with the bridegroom's parents. Among the Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Humphries were Mr. and Mrs. Q. W. Snow and little son, of High Point; Mr. and Mrs. Alberty, Mrs. Jane Layne and Mrs. Nannie Alberty of Fairview; Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Cockerham and famliy, and J. C. Kerley of Elkin. The many friends of Mrs. Mal ory Anthony will be glad to know that she is improving from a re cent illness. Sprinkle, Misses Ila Mae and Martha Sprinkle and Albert Sprinkle were the Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Nance at Shady Grove. Miss Nina Wagoner was the week-end guest of Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Finney at Island Ford. Mr. and Mrs. William Allen moved here Monday from Rural Hall. We are glad to have them with us. Mrs. Marie Chandler and little daughter returned Monday from High Point, where they have been spending several weeks with rel atives and friends. Dowell Sprinkle of near Dobson, who has been a patient in Hugh Chatham Memorial hospital for several days, is much improved and it is hoped that he will be able to return to his home within a few days. W. A. Brown of Jonesville, Route 1, spent several days here last week, the guest of his daugh ter, Mrs. W. H. Sneed, and fam ily. W. H. Sneed made a business trip to Winston-Salem Monday. Alvin Dockery of Union Cross, who underwent an operation at Hugh Chatham Memorial hos pital last week, continues to im prove, his many friends will be glad to know. Miss Emma Cockerham spent Monday In Elkin, the guest of Miss Ella Cockerham. Mr. and Mrs. Noah Greenwood of North Wilkesboro, spent sev eral days here last week, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. a. Greenwood. Mr. and Mrs. Preston Martin and family spent Sunday near Harmony, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Shore. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Sneed and son, J. M., Jr., of Winston-Salem, were the Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Cockerham. Rev. R. Pender of Rockford, will preach at Little Richmond Baptist church Sunday at 11 o'clock. C., April 21.—Frank Hancock will take his senatorial campaign into those counties of North Carolina that time has not yet permitted, it was revealed in his office here today. The Fifth district Congressman, never a loser in a political cam paign, spends each week-end in the state and an occasional day during the week when he is able to be away from Washington without neglecting his duties there. With hundreds of letters pour ing into his offices in Washing ton and Oxford since his candi dacy was announced last October, the mail has more than quadru pled since he opened his campaign with two radio pddresses to the citizens of the state. Those let ters are bringing the very favor able news that Mr. Hancock is hearing in every section he visits.
