FIRST MOVIE IS SEEN ATM Ed Hemric; Civil War Vet eran, Was Never in a Court House GUEST OF THE RIPPLE Yadkinville, April s— Special) J —Ed Hemric, 94, saw his first j moving picture here a few dap rgo as the guest of The Yadkin r>jpple after he had related the 'act to friends that he had never c« e n one. He states also that he v as never been in a court house r>nd has never heard a trial in rourt of any kind. Strikes us as being a stay-at-home man who attends to his own business. Mr. Hemric went on a long trip one time, when he went to the Civil war for several months. He lost an eye by a Yankee bullet at the battle of Petersburg, Va., which he says was the largest battle of that war. He also has a scar on his left arm where an other Yankee bullet went through his arm. But he came back to the war torn south and has help- ed to rebuild it by hard work, during which time he has rear ed six children and has 54 grand children and 47 great-grandchil dren, all living. His wife died 10 years ago at 74. Mr. Hemric was born at Swan Creek, Yadkin county. He now lives with his son, Harrison Hem ric, near Yadkinville. He is a very spry man for his age and says he can dance a jig anytime he hears the music. He chews to bacco, smokes a pipe and admits he has taken his "dram" all his HANES UNDERWEAR IBMH Belk-Doughton Co. ■ W«>4^l '»* 's ]l VPS RRVIITtiS W/ WV ■l'ljßiUjmiV /// \i V U Jk «H B■ v v • Today, you don't bare to I l] •( look like a circus tent just \ |\ before you turn in.
