Mrs. W. E. Bohannon spent the
week-end in Greensboro, where
she attended the wedding of her
niece, Miss Annie Holton, to El
wood Dunn. The marriage was

Miss Odessa Snow, a student
nurse at St. Luke's hospital, Blue
field, W. Va., returned Monday to
resume her studies, following a
visit of two weeks with her sister,
Mrs. H. G. York, and other rela
tives and friends.
Harry Johnson, Jr., of Newton,
arrived Sunday to spend a week
the guest of Bill Allen at his
home on Church street. He was
accompanied by his mother, Mrs.
Harry L. Johnson, who returned
to her home Sunday evening.

week to spend the summer with

Construction has been started
on the new home of Mr. and Mrs.
E. S. Spainhour on West Main
street, adjoining the homes of
Mesdames R. G. Franklin and E.
E. Harris. The home will be a
two story frame structure and
will be of colonial design .

reports Mr. Price is making satis
factory progress, although he will
be confined to the hospital for
several weeks yet.

of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Atkinson.
They were accompanied home by
the Atkinson's little daughter,

Clingman Elledge. Mr. Elledge,
| who was 83, passed away Sunday
afternoon. Funeral services were
| held Tuesday afternoon at 2
o'clock from the Baptist Home
church.
Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Bailey
and Mrs. Bailey's sister, Miss
Catherine Amerson, who was
visiting them, and Mr. and Mrs.
M. R. Bailey were called to Sum
ter, S. C., Wednesday morning on
account of the death of Mrs.
Dwight Bailey's and Miss Amer
son's brother, Thomas Amerson,
who passed away early Wednesday
morning from a brief illness.
Mrs. Cockerham Honors Husband
on Birthday Anniversary
Honoring her husband on his
birthday anniversary Mrs. Tyre
Cockerham entertained at an en
joyable dinner Saturday evening
at their home north of Elkin. The
affair came as a complete surprise
to the honor guest.
A color scheme of pink and
green was carried out in detail in
the appointments of the dinner
and in the decorations of the cake,
which held the significant number
of candles. Covers were placed
for thirty.
Following the dinner games and
contests were enjoyed. ,
