News of Jonesville Miss Virginia Lineberry, Editor Phone 44-M Miss Leona Grindstaff, of High Point, was the guest of Mrs. M. A. Holcomb a few days last week. Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Mock, of Winston-Salem, and Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Mock, of Spencer, were the guests of Mrs. P. H. Under wood Monday. Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Helton spent Sunday at Blowing Rock and other places of interest. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Johnson and family, of Mountain View, spent the week-end here with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Treely Johnson. Rev. and Mrs. R. E. Hinshaw, of Winston-Salem, spent Monday afternoon with Mrs: J. W. Arnold. Misses Erlene and Evelyn May berry and Ann Lineback, of Win ston-Salem, spent the week-end with Mtss Ruth Mayberry. Misses Erlene and Evelyn May berry, Ruth Mayberry and Mrs. John Mayberry spent Monday with Mrs. George Hart, of North Wilkesboro. Mrs. Phillip Eskridge entered Davis hospital, Statesville, on Monday and underwent a serious operation. Her friends wish for her a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Noel Reece and daughter, Carolyn Sue, Mrs. Jim Reece, Mr. John Kimmer, of In dian, left Monday for their home after spending a few days here with friends. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Boles and daughter, Catheryn, visited their daughter in Lexington, S. C., a few days last week. Miss _Cath eryn Brown accompanied them to Orangeburg, S. C. Mr. Thomas Reece left Sunday to spend this week with Mr. and Mrs. Davis Reece, of Roxobel. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Evans, of Shady Grove community, spent Sunday with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Denver Ingool. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Ligon re turned to their home in Washing ton, D. C., after spending some time here with friends and rela tives. Miss Cornelia Hudson, of Fieldsdale, Va., is spending this week with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Holcomb. Misses Helen and Betty Jean Slattery, of Washington, D. C., arrived here last week to spend the summer with their grand mother, Mrs. J. P. Phillips. Mr. Dothan Reece returned to his home Monday after spending a week with friends and relatives in Kentucky. Miss Ann Casstevens, of Win ston-Salem, spent last Thursday here with Miss Bertha Adams. Junior Girls Have Class Meeting The Junior Girls 11-12 Sunday school class met for its monthly class meeting at the home of their leader, Mrs. F. A. Lineberry, Tuesday evening. A business pe riod was held in which they de cided to piece a quilt for the orphanage and various other helpful things. A social hour was enjoyed by all. Rose Marlowe Circle Meets Tuesday Evening The Rose Marlowe circle of the W. M. U. met Tuesday evening for its monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. M. A. Holcomb with 11 members and two visitors present, Mrs. Gurney Wagoner and Miss Kate Shore. Mrs. Roby Casstevens was in charge of the devotional. Mrs. Ivry Johnson was in charge of the program, "The Great Commission and Home Missions," and she was as sisted by Mrs. Jack Brown, Mrs. F. A. Lineberry, Miss Bertha Adams and Miss Mildred Harris. At the conclusion of the pro gram a social half-hour was en joyed by all. Y.W.A. Meets Monday Evening The Alda Grayson Y.W.A. met for its June meeting Monday ev ening at the Baptist church with nine members present. Miss Georgie Vestal was in charge of the devotional and the program which was based on "Purity." She was assisted by various members. After the program. Miss Virginia Lineberry, president, presided over a short business period. Refreshments were served to the following: Misses Bertha Adams, leader, Virginia Lineber ry, Georgie Vestal, Evelyn Arnold, Mary Elizabeth Ingram, Madelyn Thompson, Pauline Gilliam, Lor raine Lineberry and Vera Mae Price. Little Miss Aldie Cheek is spending this week in Winston- Salem with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Jody Riley. There will be a baptizing at Mountain View Baptist church July 23, at 2 o'clock in the af ternoon.
