BOONVILLE Mr. and Mrs. Woffara and daughters, Gladys and Evelyn, of Cherryville, spent Sunday visiting Miss Carmen Frye. Miss Frye is a teacher of music in the Cherry ville school. Mrs. Bill Fletcher spent the past week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Cornelius, at Union Cross. Jennie Nell Amburn returned recently from Greensboro where she visited her sister, Mrs. Jay Husgins. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Cockerham and Mr. and Mrs. Pressley Alex ander of Concord and Charlotte, respectively, were the dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hobson. The prize was equivalent to about $65 in cash. Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Norman made a business trip to Dobson Saturday. Miss Ruth Fletcher of Raleigh, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Fletcher, the past week end. Robert Bates, who recently un derwent an operation at Hugh Chatham Memorial hospital in Elkin, is convalescing at his home here. (Jr. N. Dobbins and Taft vestal attended the International Ma chine company's convention at Charlotte last Friday. Messrs. G. H. Hudler, Ernest Stinson, Vance Davis, Gurney Sizemore and Roscoe Campbell made a business trip to States ville recently. Capt. E. E. Hood of the Civil ian Conservation Corps, located at Worthburg, Tenn., is spending the week with his wife and child ren here. Rev. McCoin of Winston-Salem, attended the revival at Boonville during the past week. Mrs. J. J. Coram, Mr. Walter Motsinger, Mrs. Tyrt Frazier and children, Nellie and James, left Monday morning for Marshall town, lowa, where they will visit relatives and friends for two weeks. A large group of Boonville peo ple attended the dedicatory ser vices at Oak Ridge church Sun day. Among those attending were Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Hudler and family, and Misses Mae and Ruby Brooks. Miss Frances Stinson of Dur ham. is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rich Stinson, and Mrs. Wiley Norman, of Boonville, who is her sister. Fleming Shore of Raleigh, is spending a few days with hfc father, Mr. Arnie Shore. Mrs. E. C. Cockerham of Con cord, spent several days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Stin son. Miss Mary Kate Woodhouse and Achsah Anne Shore are at tending the Girl Scout camp at Roaring Gap this week. Mrs. Roscoe Cranfill left Mon day to visit her parents. Rev. and Mrs. Stanley, of Sanford. Nellie Martin left Monday for a visit to her uncle, Mr. Hall, of Washington. D. C. She plans to be gone until September 1. Nel lie also has a brother and sister living in the Capital City. Miss Ernestine Caudle is vis iting her aunt in Lenoir this week. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Martin of Orlando, Florida, and Mrs. Mar tin's mother, Mrs. J. W. Shore, and son, John Wade, Jr., are at tending the World's Fair. Mr. and Mrs. James Shore of Burlington, spent the past week end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Hayes and Dr. and Mrs. T. W. Shore. Mrs. A. P. Woodruff, of Elkin, is spending several weeks with her daughter, Mrs. T. W. Shore. The revivals at Boonville and Charity Baptist churches came to a very Successful close Sunday night. There were 12 baptisms for the Boonville church, while at Charity there were 28. Several came by letter at Charity swelling the total to over 40. Mrs. Cora Ipock, of Elkin, vis ited relatives in Boonville Sun day. Four lady members of the Boonville school faculty returned here this week for a visit with Mrs. J. M. Speas. Those visiting are Miss Amanda Hallman, of Winston-Salem, Miss Ruby Wink ler, of Boone. Miss Prances Thomas, of Summerfield, and Miss Louise Abrams, of Pine Tops. Mrs. Alice Fleming, of Union Grove, visited relatives and friends here recently. Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Stinson and family, of Winston-Salem, visited Mr. and Mrs. Prank Bur ton and Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Stin son Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Patterson, of East Bend, visited Mrs. Patter son's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Fleming. Mrs. Myrtle Byrd. of Greensboro, also visited Mr. and Mrs. Fleming Sunday. Mrs. Van Shugart left Monday for New Jersey after a visit of several days with her husband. Mrs. Shugart holds a position in the above named state. Mrs. Raymond Adams and family, of Raleigh, were the guests of her father, Mr. Sant Vestal. Miss Rebecca Jane Smith, of Winston-Salem, visited friends and relatives at Boonville recent ly. Mr. and Mis. Gillas Stinson. of Winston-Salem, visited Mrs. Stin son's parents. Rev. and Mrs. R. P. Coram. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fleming and family, of Union Grove, visited friends and relatives here and in the Charity Church community. Mr. and Mrs. Mack Owens, of Winston-Salem, visited Mr, and Mrs. D. W. Hobson. Mr. F. W. Day has returned from a Winston-Salem hospital where he went several days ago for observation and treatment. Mr. Ford Brendle, of Winston- Salem, visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Brendle. Mrs. Paul Gwyn is a patient in Chatham hospital at Elkin. She is suffering from diabetes. Mr. Everett Gough and Frank Woodhouse made a business trip to Sparta Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Dan C. Hemmings of Dobson, visited relatives in this community Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Hal Deal, of Statesville, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Watt Deal. Mr. and Mrs. Foy Hemric were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Craver Sunday. Albert Lewis, who recently un derwent an operation for append icitis at Chatham hospital, is re covering rapidly. Mr. and Mrs. Reece Shugart are the parents of a fine boy that was born last Friday, July 14. Mr. and Mrs. Smith Burgess, Mr. and Mrs. Ransom Burgess, and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Comer visited Mr. C. R. Bell, of Brooks Cross Roads. Mr. Bell has re cently returned from a States ville hospital where he was a pa tient for several weeks. Miss Doris Ashley and Mr. Wayne Stroud, of Jonesville, vis ited Miss Dorothy Coram Sunday. Boonville Women Organize Home Demonstration Club • A group of Boonville women met with Miss Irene Brown, Yad kin county home agent, in the Boonville home economics build ing and organized a home dem onstration club. Most of the initial meeting was taken up with organization work and laying plans for future work. Fifteen ladies present at the meeting became members. There were also several visitors. Mrs. Roy Reece was elected president of the organization. Other officers elected were Mrs. John Williams, vice president; Mrs. Nathan C. Dobbins, record ing secretary; and Mrs. Eldon Williams, corresponding secretary. Miss Brown gave a demonstra tion of various ways that the housewife can make iced drinks on any summer occasion. It was decided that the next meeting of the Boonville club should be on the first Wednesday in August, at 2:30 pjn. in the same building. At this meeting Miss Brown will give a demon stration on canning vegetables. Miss Merlie Speer, Miss Winona Fleming and Mrs. George Wil liams are the program committee for this meeting. Miss Lucille Fletcher Entertains Miss Lucille Fletcher celebrat ed her 16th birthday with a party given at her home in Boonville. Misses Mary Alice Green, of Yadkinville, and Carolyn Fletch er greeted the visitors at the door. They were directed to the living room where many games and contests were played. Outdoor games of interest were also play ed. Some of the games and con tests were guessing, hoop race, superlatives, balloon battle, ques tions and answers. Prize winners were John D. Mackie of Yadkin ville, and Miss Mary Ruth Flem ing, of Boonville. After the period of entertain ment, Miss Lucille Fletcher in vited all the guests to the dining room where she served fruit Jello, Russian tea, and coconut cake. The guest list was made up of Misses Elizabeth Bohannon, Mary Ruth Fleming, Mary Ruth Hob son, Dorothy Coram, Carolyn Fletcher and Nannie Woodruff, and Curtis Hobson, Alvis Hobson, Foy Reece and Howard Renegar, of Boonville, Miss Mary Lou Hol leman, of Jonesville, John Marlyn Matthews and John Martin Huff, of East Bend, Miss Mary Alice Green, J. Edward Williams, Grady Mackie, Loyd Dixon, Lawrence Hutchens, Mary Alice Green, and John D. Mackie, of Yadkinville. BENHAM The revival started Sunday ev ening and will continue through out this week. The public is cor dially invited to attend the ser vices. Also Rev. G. W. Curry in vited the Sunday school children next Saturday evening to meet at his home. There will be games played and refreshments served. Mr. and Mrs. Reece Jolly, of Roaring River, were the guests of Mrs. Jolly's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Rose, Sunday. Mrs. Bonnie Adams and chil dren, of Little Mountain, were the guests of her mother, Mrs. Nancy Smith, Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Burcham have been spending a few days with their daughter, Mrs. Arl Smith, and Mr. Smith. Mrs. Lodema Harp is spending a few days with her grandson, Mr. Cap Yarboro, and Mrs. Yar boro. Mr. and Mrs. David Cocker ham, of Little Mountain, were the week-end guests of Mrs. Cockerham's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roe Yarboro. Mr. and Mrs. Watt Tucker had as their guests Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Kirkman Hawkins and chil dren, of Little Elkin, and Mr. John Hayes and children, of near State Road. Mr. and Mrs. Brady Lewis and family had as their guests Sun day Mr. and Mrs. Tom Edison and Miss Laura Walls, of Elkin, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Williams' and daughter, also Mr. Williams' sis- ter, of Charlotte, Mrs. Daisy Bowey, of Louisiana, and Mrs. Clifton Smith and children. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Settle, of Lomax, were guests of Mr. Set tle's mother, Mrs. Ella Settle, Sunday night.
