News of Jonesville / Miss Virginia Lineberry, Editor Phone 44-M Mr. Kern Feimster, of Win ston-Salem, is spending this week with Mrs. Marvin Mayberry and family. Mrs. Rufus Gilliam and daugh ter, Marian, returned to their home in Stratford Saturday after spending the week with Mrs. J. C. Gilliam. Mr. and Mrs. Tat Davis and children, Johnny and Abbey Car ol, and Mr. Ab Brown spent Sun day in Chapel Hill. Mr. Bobby Brown returned home with them after spending some time with relatives in Chapel Hill. The condition of Mrs. J. C. Kerley shows little improvement, her friends will regret to learn. Mr. and Mrs. O. E. King spent the week-end in Dobson, the guests of the latter's parents. Miss Helen Slattery spent the week-end with Miss Vivian Tul bert, of Millers Creek, Miss Hazel Phillips spent the week-end in North Wilkesboro, the guest of Miss Ruth Shatley. Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Holcomb spent Sunday in Hamptonville, the guests of the latter's mother, Mrs. W. E. Macey. Mrs. Mandy Adams spent Fri day and Saturday with her sis ter, Mrs. John Brown, of near Boonville. Miss Jean Sullins, of Elkin, spent Tuesday and Wednesday with Misses Cornelia and Jean Lineberry. Delia Woodhouse Circle Meets Tuesday Evening The Delia Woodhouse circle met Tuesday evening for its reg ular meeting at the home of Mrs. W. I. Shugart. The program sub ject was "The Great Commission in the Orient." Miss Bertha Adams had charge of the devo tional. Mrs. F. A. Lineberry di rected the program. She was as sisted by Mesdames Joe Brandon, D. G. Reece, M. H. Helton, W. V. Holcomb and W. I. Shugart. A short business period was presid ed over by the president, Mrs. W. V. Holcomb. Routine business was discussed after which a so cial half hour' was enjoyed. BENHAM Little MLss Peggie Hambric, of Ronda, has been spending several days with her grandmother, Mrs. George Curry, while Mr. Curry is assisting in a revival. Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Tucker end little son, Hallis, visited Mrs Tucker's sister, Mrs. David Cock erham, and Mr. Cockerham, Sat urday at Little Mountain. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Spencer have been spending a few days across the mountains on their vacation visiting relatives, and reported a nice time. They re turned to their home last Mon day. Miss Esther Darnell, of Win ston-Salem, has been spending a few days with her mother, Mrs. Mary Darnell. Mr, Nonie Tucker and daugh ter, Gladys, of Winston-Salem, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Rose Saturday. MLss Reba Smith, of Yadkin county, spent the week-end with her mother, Mrs. Nancy Smith, and family. [LITTLE ELKIN Several people from this com munity have been attending the revival meeting at Macedonia during the past week. , A group of girls from this community visited Mrs. Ola Brown at her home near Long town, recently. Mr. and Mrs.. U. G. Love were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mos ley Luffman and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hall near Pleasant Hill the past week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Luff man, of Erlanger, were the week end guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. B. Luffman. NBAS FROM THE Rev. R. L. West held a service at the Baptist church Sunday ev ening, filling his regular appoint ment. Mr. J. T. Threatte left Satur day for a vacation with relatives and friends at Bennettsville, S. C. He was accompanied by his daughter, Betty June. Supt. John W. Comer, Bausie Marion and Robert Freeman, Jr., spent the week-end at Shatley Springs. Ed Comer returned home last week from Louisburg, where he has had work all summer. Miss Elizabeth Norman is at the Charlotte Sanitarium for an operation. She is convalescing in a satisfactory way and will re turn in a few days. W. E.
