News of Jonesville Miss Virginia Lineberry, Editor The Methodist revival is in progress this week. Everyone is invited to attend the services. Rev. Tucker, pastor of the Meth odist church of Elkin, is aiding Rev. Dwight Mullis in his work this week. Miss Jean Lineberry is listed among the sick this week. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Pinnix and Mrs. Vick Swaim spent Sunday with Mrs. Carrie Swaim, of Elkin. Mr. George Brown is spending this week in Tennessee attending to business matters. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Swaim, of East Elkin, spent Saturday night with the former's mother, Mrs. Carrie Swaim. Mrs. P. H. Underwood accom panied Mr. Grady Phillips to To ledo. Ohio, last week to spend an indefinite time there with her nephew, Mr. Clyde Mock. The Sunbeams met for their monthly meeting at the church Monday evening at 2:00 o'clock. She spent last week with her sister, Mrs. Miles Weatherman, and is spending this week with her brother, Mr. C. A. Pardue. Miss Helene Brown left Sunday for Boone to spend a few weeks with her cousin, Miss Theresa Brown. Miss Opal Ingool spent the wee)c-end in Winston-Salem vis iting friends. ' COOL SPRINGS Sunday school is still going fine, 160 present Sunday; and with the coming of September and October dreams of picnics and camp fires are coming true. The Intermediate girls, in charge of Miss Lillian Tucker, are plan ning the first picnic of the sum mer for next Sunday. The Cool Springs folks would like to acknowledge their thanks for fifteen bags of cement do nated by Mr. Yates of the Elkin Lumber company, through Jay Myers, an employee of the com pany. Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Parker, Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Parker and Miss Eva Parker, all of Atlanta, Ga., were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dula Carter the past week. Miss Margaret Hendren, of Taylorsville, spent the past two weeks the guest of her sister, Mrs. Jolly, and Mr. Jolly, here. Mr. and Mrs. Jolly and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Isenhour accompanied her home and spent some time visiting relatives and friends in their old home town. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Myers and Mrs. Ada Newman visited Mr. and Mrs. Hurcel Tulbert, of Elkin Valley community, Sunday.' Mr. and Mrs. Edworth Wood, of Elkin, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Blackburn the past week-end. Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Tucker and daughter, Bertha Mae, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Har ris Sunday, and Miss Lillie Adams, of Kannapolis, was also a visitor there. Mrs. Bessie Holbrook and son, George, of Pennsylvania, Mrs. Joe Holbrook and son, John, of Traphill, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Holbrook, of this community, the past week-end. Rev. Martin Luffman, of Little Elkin. preached here Sunday ev ening. Several visitors from his church accompanied him, among them being Rev. and Mrs. J. D. Luffman, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Luffman and daughter. Two spe cial numbers by Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Luffman and daughter were much enjoyed. ARLINGTON Miss Barbara Ann Finney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Coy Finney, is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Silas Sparks, of State Road. Mr. Ernest Shore of Brooks Cross Roads, spent Monday af ternoon with Rev. and Mrs. J. S. Hinson. Rev. Floyd Frye of Hillsville, Virginia, is visiting his son, Mr. and Mrs. James Frye. Rev. Isom Vestal filled his reg ular appointment at Arlington Baptist church Sunday and Sun day night. Mr. and Mrs. Smith Collins have returned home from a va cation of several days at the beach. Rev. Cleat Simmons filled his regular appointment at North Oak Ridge Baptist church Sun day and Sunday night. We are pleased to learn that Miss Margaret Ann Gilliam, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gilliam, is better after a few days of illness. Misses Vena and Pauline Alex ander are spending several days at Roaring River, visiting friends. Mrs. Arthur Holcomb is visit ing friends of Winston-Salem this week. REVIVAL AT WILSON K N O B IN PROGRESS A revival meeting is in progress at Wilson Knobs, one mile south west of Austin, at the Pentecostal Union Gospel Church of God. The meeting is in charge of Rev. NEWMAN REUNION TO BE HELD ON SEPT. 3 The tenth annual Newman re union will be held this year at the home of Mrs. Ada Newman, four miles northwest of Elkin, on the first Sunday in September.
