Miss Kathleen Vestal, who is a student at Applachian State Teachers College, Boone, spent a few days recently with hei mother, Mrs. Pearl Vestal. A. of the Baptist church met with Miss Katherine Jones at its regular monthly meeting. Mrs. Lillian was associate hostess. The next meeting will be held with Mrs. Arlie. Steelman, with Miss Marie Finney as associate hostess. Friendship W.M.U. Meets The Woman's Missionary Soci ety of Friendship Baptist church, East Bend, met at the home of Mrs. Marler Wilhelm, on Satur day, Nov. 18. The devotionals were conducted by Mrs. Fonphro Crissman. Mrs. Marler Wilhelm gave an interesting talk on "The Great Commission and Two Con tinents." Mrs. Calvin Angell told of Southern Baptist work in Eu rope and Africa. "A Henrietta in Europe" was given by Mrs. Paul Matthews. Miss Nell Chatham and Mrs. S. O. Matthews discuss ed the Nigerian Baptist Seminary and "Winning Through a School." At the close of the* program a short business session was held. After the business, the hostess served refreshments to the group. The Thanksgiving motif was car ried out. The December meeting will be held December 9, at the home of Miss Nell Chatham. Friendship Sunbeam Band Meets The Sunbeam Band of Friend ship Baptist church, East Bend, held its regular meeting at the church Sunday, with the leader, Mrs. Fonphro crissman, in charge. The topic for the month was "Sunbeams Give Thanks for Our Work in Africa." The meet ing was opened by the Sunbeam ;ong with Miss Nell Chatham ac companying them at the piano. Each member gave a Bible verse from memory. Mrs. Crissman told the stories for the meeting. Plans were made for the Lottie Moon Christmas offering to be taken at the next meeting which will be held in December. The leaders are Mrs. Fonphro Crissman and Miss Nell Chatham. Boonville Seniors Hold Party The senior class of Boonville high school met for its November meeting in the home economics building of the high school. The hostesses. Misses Goldie Adams, Bernice Bangle, Lola Baker and Clarice Brown had a very interesting program planned for the occasion. Several games and contests were played through out the evening. After the games and contests the hostesses served a delicious refreshment course consisting of orange crush, dates, candy, cookies and sandwiches. Russell-Davis Vows Spoken at Independence, Va. Mr. Kenneth Russell and Miss Bessie Davis, both of East Bend, were married at Independence, Va., November 11, in a simple ring ceremony by the Rev. Mr. Funk. Mr.s Russell is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. John Davis, of the Forbush community of East Bend. Mr. Russell is the son of Mr. and Mrs. B. Russell, also of East Bend.
