U. of the Arlington Baptist church met at the home of Mrs. James Dunman Friday, with nine members and two visit ors present. The meeting opened with the hymn, "How Firm a Foundation." The devotionals were in charge of Mrs. Johnny Sears and an interesting program on "The Eternal Purpose of God" was presented. The closing pray er was by Mrs. S. S. Swaim. The hostess served tempting refreshments during a pleasant social hour. T. M. Rose of Arlington and Charlie Gilliam of Jonesville, spent Tuesday in Durham, at tending to business matters. We are glad to note that Miss Lucille Rose has returned to her home here from a Statesville hospital. Sunday at the evening service Rev. Scales Draughan of Crutch field, was elected pastor of the Arlington Baptist church. Tom Rose had as his guests Sunday at his home in Jonesville, Mr. and Mrs. Gid Allen, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Robinson, and Mrs. Lee Shutt, all of Winston-Salem.
