Sprinkle, of near Dobson, Sunday. Mr. Stanford Brown, of Boone, was the week-end guest here of friends. Miss Bessie Hampton, of near Dobson, is spending a few days here this week with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hampton. . Messrs. Kemp Reece and Her bert Myaberry left Tuesday to re sume their studies at Mars Hill College, Mars Hill, after spending the Easter holidays here with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Reece and Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Mayberry, respectively. Camilla Minlsh Gives "Old Maid's Party" Miss Camilla Minish entertain ed the Old Maid's club with a scavenger hunt at her home Fri day night. During the fun period games and contests were enjoyed and the prize was awarded to Mr. Roy Boles. Those enjoying the hunt were Misses Pansy Burcham, Alma Couch, Mary Thompson, Dorothy Hutchins, Elizabeth Minish and Frances Swaim; Messrs. Wendell Stanley, Curtis Groce, Roy Boles, Eugene Martin, John Taylor, Ralph Swaim, Reece Shugart, and the hostess, Miss Camilla Minish. During the social hour Rita* crackers, gingerale, cakes and as sorted Easter egg candies were served. Master Clay Reid Honored on Birthday Master Clay Reid, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Royall Reid, was hon ored on his third birthday anni versary on Friday afternoon, March 22. Those attending were Jean and Leonard liineberry, Crawford and Kenneth Dockery, and Gayle Mayberry. During the social hour ice cream, cake and pineapple juice were served. Easter baskets were favors presented to each guest. P.-T. A. Meets Evening The Jonesville P.-T. A. met on Thursday night, March 21, at 7:30 o'clock in the school audi torium. Mrs. A. B. Scroggs, president, held a short business session, af ter which the following program was presented by children from the various grades: Devotional, Katie Lee Sim mons; piano solo, Jean Madison; piano solo, Bobby Martin; Steph en Foster songs, third and fourth grades; reading, Dexter Rose; piano solo, Alene Ingram; piano solo, Jerry Boles; piano solo, Katie Lee Simmons; violin solo, June Boles. Mrs. Osborne Honored on Birthday Mrs. R. M. Osborne was honored with a family dinner Easter Mon day, at her home by members of her family vin observance of her forty-eighth birthday anniversary. The Easter motif was carried out in the decorations of the din ing room. The table was centered with a beautiful two tier birthday cake decorated in green and white and topped with forty-eight can dles. A three course dinner was serv ed. Covers were placed for Mrs. R. M. Osbome, honoree; Mr; R. M. Osborne, Mr. and Mrs. Max Anthony and son, Staley, Jr., and Mrs. Lawrence Gough, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Osborne, and Misses Lorene and Eloise Osborne. Miss Blanche Myers Entertains Senior Monday Evening Miss Blanche Myers, student at Meredith College, Raleigh, enter- and several outsiders, while here for the holidays, on Monday evening at her home. During the fun period many in teresting games and contests were played with prizes going to Eu gene Martin and Herbert May berry. Refreshments were served to the following: Misses Grace My ers, Pansy Burcham, Nonnie Bur cham, Pauline Morrison, Clyde Myers, Irene Myers and the hos tess, Blanche Myers; Messrs. Joe Brandon, Thad Martin, Eugene Martin, Junior Anthony, James Mathis, Reece Shugart, Woodrow Lawrence, Wendel Stanley, Lloyd Dudley and Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Weaver. Out of town guests were Misses Mary Kate Woodhouse and Viola Norman of Boonville; and Messrs. Kemp Reece and Herbert May berry, students at Mars Hill Col lege, Mars Hill. COOL SPRINGS Owing to an epedemic of mumps in our community many of our folks are out of Sunday School. Rev. Orville Alexander preached ►here Sunday at eleven o'clock. The children of Mr. and Mrs. O. P. Holbrook met Sunday at their home, for an Easter dinner together, honoring the daughter whose marriage Saturday was solemized in Virginia. Of the eight children all were present, five of whom are married. The bride was accompanied on her trip home by the bridegroom, Mr. W. J. Burton, of Norfolk, Va., and Mr. and Mrs. John Burton of Winston-Salem. For ten years Mr. Burton has been in the U. S. Navy, and is at present stationed at Norfolk. We wish for them a very happy life together. Rev. Joe A. Crews of Winston- Salem, and pastor of Marshall Baptist church there, will preach here Sunday evening at 7 o'clock.
