SCHEDULE OF CUNICS GIVEN County-wide Examination of Children Is Started Monday- Here MOUNTAIN PARK TODAY Pre-school clinics for the exami nation of children who will enter school for the first time this fall, got underway to the county Mon day, with clinics being held at Elkin, Elkin colored school and North Ekin. The clinic will be held at West field school at 9 o'cock Friday morning, April 12, and at Banner town at 1 o'clock of the same day. Monday, April 15, Lowgap at 9:30 o'clock; Beulah at 11 a.m.; and at McMickle, at 2:30 o'clock. The staff will visit the Flat Rock school at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning, April 16. On Thursday April 18, the field staff will visit Little Richmond school at 9:30 o'clock a. m., and the Little Richmond colored school at 11 a.m. The Pilot Mountain white and colored schools will be visited at 9:30 and 1 o'clock, re spectively, on Monday, April 22, and Eldora school will be visited at 2:30 o'clock on the same day. ■The pre-school clinic will be held at Cooke school at 9:30 a.m. on the 22; at Combstown at 1 p. m., and at the Mount Airy colored school at 2 p. m. On Tuesday April 23, at Shoals school at 9:30; and at Siloam school at 1 p.m. On Wednesday. April 24, at Shelton town at 9:30 a. m.; at Chestnut Ridge at 11 a.m.; and at Westfild colored school at 1 p. m. The clinic will be conducted in Copeland school at 9:30 a. m. Mon day, April 29, at Rockford at 1 p. m.; and at Rockford colored school at 2:30 p.m. On Tuesday, April 30, the health staff will be at North Main Street school at Mt. Airy at 1 p. m. 1— Pleasant Ridge Rev. Prank Peeler of Taylors ville filled his regular appointment here Sunday afternoon. A large [Crowd was present for the service. Our Sunday school is doing fine. We had a,' total of 133 present Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Carter of Jonesville were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Carter Sunday after noon. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Gentry and Miss Eula Caudill of Friend ship community were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Caudill over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Parks Groce of Jonesville were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Carter Sunday. Miss Frauline and Annie Mae Simmons of Arlington were the guests of Miss Frances Burchette Sunday. Little Frank Luff man is on our sick list this week. Rev. Frank Peeler was the din ner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Luffman Sunday. Little Nancy Gray Luffman spent last week at Mountian Park the guest of her grandmother, Mrs. Avery Swift. India has three times as many cattle as there are in the United States. THE ELKIN TRIBUNE, ELKIN, NORTH CAROLINA BETHEL Mrs. J. T. Triplette who has been seriously ill at the Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital at Elkin for the past week, is some better we are glad to note. Quite a number from here at tended the funeral of Mrs. C. L. Morrison held at Jonesville Bap tist church last Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Morrison was a resident of this community and numbered her friends by her acquaintances. She was much loved, yith her Chris tain spirit, kind and friendly per sonality, being always ready to lend a helping hand where she was needed. We extend much sympathy to the bereaved family. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Armstrong, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ferlazzo and little son, Eddie, with their moth er, Mrs. C. W. Gilliam of Winston- Salem visited relatives and friends here last Sunday. Mrs. W. A. Holloman is ill at her home near here we aro» sorry to note. Mr. and Mrs. N. E. Burchette had as their guests the past week end their daughters, Mrs. Jesse Church, Mrs. Sam Price and Mar garet Church of Greensboro. Mr. and Mrs. Mastin Green and children, Gladys, Mary Ann and Jack visited Mrs. Green's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Durham, last Sunday at Swan Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Feimster Morrison of Greensboro spent the past week-end here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Morrison, and to attend the funeral of his grand mother. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Stroud were the guest of her sister, Mrs. Carl Rose and Mr. Rose of Arling ton last Sunday. Miss Elizabeth Longworth of Roanoke, Va., is visiting her cous in, Miss Mary Lou Mathis, this week. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Newman and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Myers of the Pleasant Hill community were here to be with Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Morrison at the funeral and burial of his mother last Sun day. Mrs. Morrison is a sister of Mrs. Myers and Mr. Newman. Misses Ruby Faye Hurt, Grace Dean Bentley, Vivian Blackburn and Nancy Tharpe of Ronda were the guests of their friend, Miss Kathlene Gilliam here last Tues day night. Mr. and Mrs. T. N. Green visi ted their daughter and family last Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fin ney of Jonesville. BURCH Rev. C. M. Caudill of Mt. View, will fill his regular appointment at Union Cross Baptist church Saturday night and Sunday morn ing at 11 o'clock. The public is cordially invited to attend. Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Marion, Jr., announce the birth of a daughter, June Lorene, on April 7. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Sneed and children, Lydia Jane and Rufus Allen, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Chappel, Roy and Warren G. Chappel at tended the birthday dinner Sunday of Mrs. Rural Sneed at Winston- Salem. Mrs. C. C. Humphries, who has been ill for some time does not show any improvement her many friends will regret to know. Mr. and Mrs. Clete Jenkins and children of State Road visited Mr. and Mrs. G. P. Jenkins Sunday. Edgar Burch of Asheville spent several days last week with his mother, Mrs. Lily V. Burch. Mrs. Luther Cockerham of North Elkin, visited friends and relatives here Sunday. Mrs. Emma Cocfterham of Jonesville, visited Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Carter, here Sunday. Mrs. E. A. Phillips of Winston- Salem, and Mrs. Pearl Holyfield of Rockford, visited Mr. and Mrs. Paul Marion here Sunday. Mrs. Lucy Chappel who has been ill for several days is improving her many friends will be glad to know. Those from here who attended the Home Demonstration Club at Rockford Thursday, were: Mrs. Bessie Marion, Mrs. Clyde Burch and Mrs. John W. Martin. Mrs. Marion received second prize on a dress. Mrs. Burch received first prize on a suit. Those from here who attended the Surry county Republican con vention at Dobson, Saturday were: Messers. M. V. Anthony, R. W. Flincham, W. H., M. G. and Earl Sneed, Sol Hall, W. L. Alberty, Bob Martin and Crozer Wall. Mr. and Mrs. John Vanhoy and son Henry, and Mr. and Mrs. Tucker Vanhoy of Walkertown visited Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Flincham Sunday.
