Re-listing Surry Conve To Its Farmers Whereas many North Carolina counties are calling for a com plete new registration in order to be eligible to vote in the ap proaching primary and election, Surry county voters, if they cast a ballot in the elections of 1936 and 1938 do not have to go to the trouble of registering again. i The state ruling on the re-list ing or re-registration of voters ! left the matter optional with the board of elections in various coun ties, and R. A. Freeman, of Dob son, chairman of the Surry ooard of elections, has pointed out that Surry election officials chose to order the registrars to work out a new list themselves in order to save time for the coun ty's farmers, now in the midst of their busy planting season. An entirely new registration for every citizen would have made it necessary for every citi zen to take time off from work and hunt up a registrar, whereas the re-listing falls on the reg istrars and members of the coun ty board of elections alone. The relisting takes care of all voters who voted in either the primary jor general election in 1936 or 1938. Others must re-register. ! The Surry registration books iwere open Saturday, April 6, and j will remain open through next | Saturday. STATE ROAD | Mr. and Mrs. T. E.
