C. James, of this city, and her guest, Mrs. W. D. Briggs, of Raleigh, will attend the meet tag and both Mrs. James and Mrs. Briggs are speakers on the program. The association extends a cor dial invitation to all churches to have representatives present. EXPRESS REGRET IN BAPTIST RESOLUTION Whereas, our beloved Pastor, Reverend Eph Whisenhunt, has heeded the call of the Holy Spirit and has moved to other fields of Christian Service, and Whereas, our church has grown in number and in unity under the leadership of our Pastor; our Pastor was called to a church burdened with a heavy debt; he came to a church having no sound financial policy; he goes to other fields leaving a church with its building debt paid in full, a sound financial policy in force and a united membership forty per cent, greater in number than when he came to this field. Kinzie at Salem, Va., last Sunday. Mr. Clyde Cockerham, of Win ston-Salem, visited relatives here last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Windom Guyer, of Elkin, visited relatives here last week. Miss Helen Dickerson, of State Road, visited Miss Lillian Swift last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Thomp son, of Devotion, visited Mr. and Mrs. P. B. Cockerham last Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. John Brookshire, of State Road, visited Mrs. H. W. Tulle last Friday. Mrs. Ruby Lindberry and chil dren, Donald Lee and Tommy, of Hemphill, W. Va., are on an ex tended visit here with friends. Mr. J. Sam Gentry has return ed from a Statesville hospital where he underwent treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Huntley, of Winston-Salem, and Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Adams and Miss Irene Swift, of Winston-Salem, were the Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Swift. Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Johnson had as their Sunday guests Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Watson and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Johnson, of Ararat. W. H. WALL AND ltp FAMILY i- Eight hundred and ten children were killed in this country last year while playing in the street. SHIPMENT OF COWS GO TO THE BAHAMAS A total of 41 cows and three calves were shipped Saturday from Yadkin county to the Ba hama Islands for a herd there. The most of the cattle were pure bred Ouernseys. Dr. John S. Whitfield, of the islands, was here to buy the cattle and was assisted by Dick and Charles Bray, of Yadkin county, in mak ing the purchases. Dr. Whitfield was accompanied on his return by Charles Bray, who expects to be away about two weeks. According to information an average of S7O was paid for the cattle, with the highest price for »ny one animal being $250. Other cattle were bought in various parts of the state for the shipment, which was expected to equal three car loads when com pleted.
