Michael, above, of Yadkinville, cele brated their Golden Wedding anniversary last Sunday at their home, by having a number of close friends and relatives present. Both were born in Surry county 68 years ago, but moved to Yadkin ville in 1930. Mrs. Michael, before marriage, was Miss Clara Susan Cummings. The couple have three children, Mrs. T. E. Mrs. DeShazo was formerly Miss Pau line Church of Roaring River, and is well known here, where she frequently visits. Mrs. De- Shazo also attended high school here. Miss Miriam Baucom, of Spruce Pine, is the guest this week of Mrs. Jack Terrell, at her home on West Main street. Miss Baucom will be pleasantly re membered here, having lived here a number of years ago, when her father, Rev. W. T. Baucom, was pastor of the First Baptist church. Miss Roberta Myers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Myers, of South Dakota, is visiting relatives at Windsor's Cross Roads. Myers and Hubert Chaffin, all of Windsor's i Cross Roads, left Monday for a visit of a week to Virginia Beach and Washington, D. C. Dr. and Mrs. W. R. Wellborn will leave the latter part of the week for a brief visit with Mr. and Mrs. J. Ralph Reece, the lat ter their daughter, in Greenville, S. C. They will be joined there by their son, W. R. Wellborn, Jr., who graduated this spring from the medical school at Tulane University, New Orleans. Mr. Wellborn will accompany them home for a visit. Dr. Olivia Abernethy, of this city, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J. G. Abemethy, who was graduat ed this year from the Virginia Medical College at Richmond, was one of the 108 successful ap plicants for physician's license, according to an announcement made Saturday by Dr. W. D. James, secretary of the board of medical examiners of North Car olina. Dr. Abemethy Is at pres ent in Potteville, Pa., where she Is serving her intern eship at the Fottevllle hospital. Mrs. Q. L. Barnhardt, of Dur ham, and Mrs. Howard Caldwell, of Concord, are the guests this week of Mr. and Mrs. J. Walter Darnell, at their home on Gwyn avenue.
