Mr. Harvey Parttaie of LOuisburg, Pa., arrived hertf£unday to spend an indefinite ttyoe with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Pardue. The annual Pardue reunion was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Pardue Sunday, with all members at the Immediate fam ily and their children, present. Others attending were Misses Lucille Vestal, Gladys Transou and Mr. Roland Lancaster of El kin. Misses Kathryn Whltener and Ann Lineback spent the week-end In Winston-Salem, where they at tended the wedding of the form er's sister, Miss Delitha Whlten er, 1 which took place on Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Groce, Mr. and Mrs. Roby Sprinkle and son, Michael, and Miss Nancy Ahn Mayberry spent the week end in High Point, with Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Doss. Mrs. Hattie Feimster and sons, Junior and Kern, and Mrs. Hart ness and children. Jack and Hel en, of Winston-Salem, were the Friday guests of Mrs. Marvin Mayberry. Master Leonard Lineberry is spending this week with Messrs. Leo and Allen Wagoner, at Brooks Cross Roads. Mrs. John Arnold and Mrs. Ivory Johnson and son, Sammy, spent Friday in Marion, with Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Hinshaw. Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Hinshaw and children, Carolyn and Har old; Mrs. M. V. West of Winston- Salem, and Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Hinshaw of Marion, were the Sunday guests of Mrs. John Ar nold. Mr. Thomas Reece will leave Monday for Mars Hill, where he will attend college. Mrs. Montgomery Casstevens spent a few days last week with friends in Advance and Mocks ville. L. Lineberry, of near Boonville. Miss Wilda Mae Mathis of Washington, D. C., is spending an indefinite time here with rela tives. Mr. Meton Mullis spent the lat ter part of last week in Char lotte. Miss Mary Frances Apperson has as her guest this week Miss Violet Wykle, of Winston-Salem. Mrs. Robert Apperson spent last week in Winston-Salem, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ovid Weatherman. Sunbeams and Primary Girls Enjoy Picnic The Sunbeams and Primary Girls' Class of the Baptist church met Wednesday afternoon at the church for their regular meeting, and afterward enjoyed a picnic in Cummings' pasture. During the afternoon interest ing games were played from 3:30 until 5:30. Mrs. Will Holcomb, Sunbeam leader, Miss Magdalene Price, primary girl's leader, Mrs. Ivory Johnson, superintendent of the Sunday school department, and approximately twenty little girls and boys enjoyed the event. Large Group Attends Chicken Stew Monday Night A large group from the com munity met at the Baptist church Monday night and motored to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gur ney Wagoner, at Brooks Cross Roads, where they were their guests for the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Wagoner and family were former residents here and each year since then have invited some of their most intimate friends from here to enjoy a chicken stew at their home there. BETHEL The revival is In progress here at Bethel church this week, and is expected to continue through out the week. Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Gilliam and family visited relatives in Win ston-Salem last Sunday and were the dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Armstrong. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gray, of Maryland, who are spending some time here with relatives, visited his sisters here last week, Mesdames J. B. and T. W. Green. Miss Pauline Morrison returned to her home here last Sunday from a week's visit to her aunt, Mrs. D. M. Mathis, in Martins ville, Va. Little Thomas Stroud spent several days at Arlington last week as the guest of his brother, Mr. Wayne Stroud, and Mrs. Stroud. Little Miss Dorothy Osborne, of Jonesville, visited her great grandmother, Mrs. Mollie Ann Osborne, here last week. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Jones, Eu gene Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jones attended the quartet sing ing held at Dobson last Sunday. Mrs. Felix Swaim, of Cycle, is spending this week here visiting her parents, MX. and Mrs. J. P. Mathis. The latter's mother, Mrs. W. N. Weatherman, of Jonesville, is also a guest in their home. Miss Ruth Lewis, of Clingman, was the week-end guest at the home of her aunt, Mrs. J. C. Hemrlc. Mrs. Leila Harris and Monroe Smithey were married last Sat urday at Independence, Va.
