A Chronicling of a Week's ETtnts W That ThrlTiiiR Hr igh- borhocd. Mr.Geo.Woodard, from Prince ton, was visiting in our sectloB Sunday afternoon. Mist Lola Smith has been on a visit to relatives in Princeton this wetk, returning Sunday evening. Mr. Will Wbitneld, from near Seven Springs, was tbe guest of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Smith, this week. Dr. M. W. Parks, from IMe;gli. spent one night last week here, on his way to bis farm at Saven Springs. Mr. Tornor Edgerton and wife, from the Pinkney section, spent Saturday night and Sunday, visit ing relatives in our community. Our effecient tax collector, Mr. Ben Sasser. will be a caudidate for nomination. Lie has made a faithful officer, and we hope he will get it. The Tobacco Growers Associ alion could not meet at Pine Forest last Friday on account of raio. However, we hope to have a good meeting eojo, and gut every farmer interested. The excessive rains for tho past woek have stagnated farm work, and prevented many from plant ing cottoD. The river is en a boom and more water on tho ground than there has been in sometime. Most farmers, that is, good ones, especially those living on the road, try to see bow straight rows they can run. But we saw some tbe other day, that for crookedness, took the cake. They were actually so crooked that the little ebony hued son of Ham who was dropping corn, in them, would meet himself com ing back, before be got half way to tbe other end. Our esteomod noighbor Mr. Howell, who is not only a good farmer but an extensive tracker, is very much concerned in regard lo a poor stand of beans, We have iuat found out (he causa. (?) In ihe lower end of bis field tby have coHio op vory well, but nour I ho roftd thoro is none, and wo think Toby has scratched them up to see if they hud sprouted, as be was so anxious for a stand. We have a tobacco bed in which we take much pride, and one day last week, noarly half the cloth was missies:, of course we thought some one had appro priated it for a mosquito net, and offered a reward for the appre b.6nsion of tho guilty party. A day or so ago, we found it in the top of a big poplar one hundred yards away, with its colors to the breez, and we supposed it must have been carried there by whirlwind, for no human hand could have put it where it is. We are now "calm and serene." From the amount of courting that is going on in this commun- ty one would think that barbe cue ana wooding cage were things of the near future. But we have given up in despair and come to the conclusion that it is either duo to force of babit, or they can't help it or somethng One thing we know, there is not much danger in it. bo far as marrying is concerned. But speaking of pure, and un adulterated love, there is noth Ing like it, and a fellow needs good case of it to bring him to his senses, There are boys our community, who are so deeply infatuated that they have shed ded their eyebrows, and one or two frout teeth. They have ou sympathy for we have stemmed the same current several times, aud the last time come out hen pecked. But then there is noth iug like it. KlLLICKINICK. 'Oak Glen," Walter, N.
