The prices at which the weed sold seemed to give entire satisfaction to the farmery who went borne glad that they came to Goldsboro. 'Uncle Jimmib" Scott's de lightful "Grape Park," at Green leaf, is now open to visitors, and the grapes are luscious and plentiful. He admits two for 25 cents, or single visitors for 15 cents, with the privilege of eat ing all the grapes you can. The AsbeviUe excursion which the Southern ttailway will run from Goldsboro next Tuesday will give those who bava never seen the grand eceueiy in Western North Carolina a splendid rppor tunity to do so. There has been less sickness among-our people than for many seasons. Notwith standing the extremely hot weather. If we had bad much rain with the present bad condition of the streets there is no calcu lating that the result might have been. It is not too late, however, for the city to suffer yet, and if the town is not cleaned up before the cquinoxial rains set in tbe city authorities will be respons ible for whatever bad results may follow. The temper ature conditions for the past week, as in the preceding week of August, have been highly fav orable for the rapid development of corn. ".As a whole, the week has been very favorable for corn over the greater partof the prin cipal corn States, more particu larly the central and northern districts, but over the northern portions of the Gulf and South Atlantic Slate?, it was unfavor able.
