Dropped Dead on His Train Sat urday Suffered a Stroke of I Apoplexy. . v. s Wilmington Dispatch. Many friends in Wilmington will be sorry to learn of the death of Capt. J. C. Slocnmb, conductor on the Chadbourn branch of the A. C. L-, which occurred on Saturday. Capt.Slo cumb was on his usual run be ween Conway and Chadbourn and fell dead on the train. Death was caused by a stroke of apo plexy. lie leaves a wife and four chll- ' 4 dren to mourn his loss. He was about forty years of age. His re mains will be interred at his old home at Clinton. . Capt. Slocumb was well known in Wilmingtoo, having worked with the A. C. L. here for a long time. PREDICTED HIS DEATH, Strange Premonition ot Bridge port Man Which Came True. Norris town, May 12 A strange premonition of death occurred in Bridgeport. Thomas Dillon,, an aged resident, on arising in th) morning announced to his chil dren that he believed that be would not be with them long; In fact, he did not think he would see tb3 light of another day. the strange statement, but Dil on went out for a walk in the morning, returning for dinner, after which he took a bath and put on clean underware, saying that he wanted to die dean.
