Dortch is quite ill at his home on William street. The many friends of Dr. W. H. H, Cobb will learn with regret of his ill ness. Since Tuesday night Dr. Cobb has been confined to his home. There will be a large attendance at tomorrow afternoon's game of ball in this city, as there are lots of "fans between here and New Bern, and most of them will be rooters for Golds- boro, and they will be here in force, by special train. Just because you do not go out to see the baseball games does not sjg nify that you are a "knocker"; But, if you are a "knocker," go out to see the games, and If you have anything in you at all that Is good, you'll find yourself "rooting'' for your home team and Just this rooting will start you off right, and first thing you know youll be saying nice things for your town instead of knocking It Try It! We've The Best Town In the State. Automobiles are good things to teach men how to take long walks back home. That party of Goldsboro "fans," chaperoned by Mr. W. T, Yel verton, viz: Walter Hill, Charlie Ed gerton, Bob Pipkin and Leslie Tel verton, who went to Raleigh yester day afternoon to witness the game between the Giants and Red Birds, did not exactly "walk" home, but they did not get here till sometime after three o'clock this morning. They can tell you the reason Why. Ask them. Jt is a good sign in this State that the towns generally are waking . up to the need for crystallization of effort in the matter of stimulating their industrial and commercial In tereats. Business men are working better together to tbis end, and the good results are already apparent There Is more public spirit in the towns of North Carolina now than there has been for many years. Tbis means that there Is going to be large increase In general business, and that the confidence of the people on the ground Is going to be largely strengthened for future development Organized effort is a big asset for any town. It means that a unity of pur pose and a consolidation of activity re at work, not so much for Individ ual advantage as for the good of the town. A pull all together can acconv plish a great deal where single-hand ed effort will achieve comparatively little. CHAT ABOUT TOCB FRIENDS. Miss Sadie Lou Brltt, who has been visiting friends at Weldon and Wake Forest, returned home yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. A. Roscower and children went to Wrlghtsville Beach this afternoon to spend a few days. Miss Edith Clark, of Wilmington, who has been visiting her little friend Miss Wattle F. Parker, in this city, left today to visit friends and rela tives in Henderson and Warrenton N. C. Mr. Robert Lee Uzzell, youngest brother of Mr. A. T. Uzzell, arrived In the city today from, Norfolk, where he is living, and will spend some time visiting relatives in this section. All his many friends hereabouts will be glad to see him.
