the body of an engineer named Ca
diou, manager of a factory nea

ed last Decenitier. The story of the
discovery ot the body is a remarkable
one. 4 hrotlier of M. Cadiou, after
making unceasing efforts to solve the
riddle of the disappearance, receiv
ed a letter from a relative at Xancy,
in which was an account of a con
versation the writer had had with a
fortune-teller. The missing man, the
fortune-teller had said, was murder
ed by a tall, dark, bearded man of
about thirty-five years, who had hid
den the body iu a ditch in a wood no
far from the factory, and covered it
with earth. The dead man's brother
although incredulous, made a search
in the place indicated and at the ex
act spot described by the fortune
teller the body was dicovered. The
latest development in the case is the
arrest of a partner of the murdured
man on an accusation of having com
mitted the crime. The accused Is
said to answer the description of the
murderer as given by the fortune
teller.
