rAGe SIX CHAPEL HILL NEWS LEADER THURSDAY Church News Easter Sunrise An Easier Sunrise Service spon-| sored by the churches of Chapel Hill and Carrboro will be held at 6. a.m. Sunday at the Lawson Golf! Course. The service will be- con ducted by the Rev. ■ Maurice A. I Kidder of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Family and the Rev. J. Paul Edwards of the Carrboro Me thodist Church. A brass ensemble from the Chap el Hill High School band will pro vide music. Phipps, Pastor Mt, Moriah Baptist Church in Wake County, will lead revival services at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church this Sunday through April 28. Services will be held each night at 7:30 in the church, which is located on the Farring ton Road. A cordial welcome is extended by the Rev. Walter C. Mitchell, pastor, to all people in this area to join in this series of revival services. Good Friday 'Parsifal' A complete Good Friday perform ance of Richard Wagner’s “Parsi- St. Joseph C.M.E. Easter Sunrise Services will be held this Sunday at St. .Toseph C. M, E. At Chapel Of Cross The Three-hour Watch Service will be conducted at the Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church on Good Friday from 12 noon until 3 o’clock. Worshiper^j are asked to enter or leave during a hymn. All are in vited to attend. On Easter Day Lloyd, scoutma.sler, carried one load of the boys, and Rayvon Stur divant and Nancy Sue Crawford carried another load. This troop gave a demonstration on making rope. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Sturdivant gave a birthday party for their daughter, Linda, honoring her 18th birthday Friday night at the White Cross Gominunily Building. A large crowd of her friends at tended. Nancy Sue Crawford and Frances Strowd had charge of the games. A pink birthday color scheme was carried out in the decorations and refreshments, which were cake squares, nuts, mints and punch. The table was centered with a beautifully deco rated birthday cake. Linda receiv ed many nice and useful gifts from her friends, and a record player from her parents. Steve O’Daniel, Mary Carol O’Danicl, Linda Lashley, Val Clegg Craw'ford and Phyllis Strowd joined on pro fession of faith, and Mrs. Cars'on Lloyd moved her membership there from another Methodist Church. There were several visitors at Orange Chapel Sunday. Walter Lamb was there and taught the Men’s class. Mr. and Mrs. Tysingcr and Mr. and Mrs. Gettling, all of Lexington, and visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Sturdivant, Miss Mabel Moses, weekend visitor of Miss Jo Amick, was there. The community wishes to ex press sincere sympathy to the fam ily of A. D. Andrews, who was buried at Orange Chapel Church last Tuesday. The family of A. D. Andrcw.s wii,'hes to express grateful appreci ation to all the people in the com munity, and surrounding communi ties, who joined in the search for A. D., and gave other expressions of sympathy and concern during the time he was missing, and his funeral. Mrs. Alton Durham was not able to come home from Watts Hospital j last week as was* expected, diic to ; complications, but she is better ^ now and hopes to come home soon.
