The freight trains on the R. & D. Railroad are run in sections. On yesterday evening the first sec tion of No 19 was following a con struction train, between this point and Jamestown and was running at the rate of about five miles an hour. The 2nd section of No. 19 not being a wart of the fact that the 1st section was running at a reduced rate of speed came thundering along and ran into the rear of the 1st section, demolishing several cars of the 1st section and the engine of the 2nd section. The engineer endeavored to stop his train, but as it was a steep down grade he was unable to do so. The engineer, Mr. John Adams, and his fireman, Mr. Claude Pearce, both jumped for their lives. The engineer was not hurt badly, but the fireman cut his knee severely and is laid up, but we hope to see him out again soon. Hrlck. Brick, lirlck.
