The News extends good wishes. - Between 75 and 100 voters in this county failed to pay their poll tax before the first day of May, and are therefore deprived of voting in the election this fall. This num her is about, equally divided be tween the two parties. There were less in Polk than any other county in the State. In some counties the number ran up to 2000. Robt. Parker is again in the clutched of the law. After the de cission of his case in Esq. Hill's court last Saturday , he appeal0d to the Superior court. It is a very unfortunate thing for a young man to be so often arraigned before the courts, it portends a perilous fu ture for him as well as indicates a defiant attitude toward law and or der, which always ends calamitous for such a man.; The Sunday schools of the Meth odist ..' and Baptist churches have united for the summer months. The following officers were elected Sunday: Superintendent, H.L. Henderson;. Assistant, J. E Ship- man; Sec'y. & Treas, W. S. Croker. Also the following teichers were " elected f . Class No. 1, N. H. Ralph heard chains rattling in the woods and immediately had busi ness at home. The prospects for enlarging the -area of our county seems to be quite inevitable. We understand that the line which divides Polk and Henderson is to, be permanently established this week by a joint sur vey, made by surveyors from each county, and that original papers will place the line at least one mile west of Saluda, thus throwing a strip of very valuable property in favor of Polk. O. t. Baynard, of Mill Spring, C. C. of the Columbus Lodge K. of P., was at his post on Tuesday night. Brp. A haggard lace tells the story of the overworked housewife and mother. Deranged menses, leucorrhopa and falling of the womb' result from overwork. Every housewife needs a remedy to regulate her menses and to keep her sensitive female organs in perfect condition. ' is doing this for thousands of American women to-day. It cured Mrs. Jones and that is why she writes this frank letter: - Glen dean e, Ky., Feb. 10, 1901. " I am bo glad that your "Wine of Cardui is helping me. I am feeling better than I have felt for years. I am doing my own work without any help, and I washed last week and was not one bit tired. That shows that the, Wine is doing me good. I am getting fleshier than I ever was before, and sleep good and eat hearty. Before I began taking Wine of Cardui, I used to have to lay down five or six times every day, but now I do not think of lying down through the day. , - Mas. Richard Jones. 91.00 AT DRUGGISTS.
