Dr. W. C. Bostic has had, his
hands full recently. He has vac
cinated almost everyone in Col
umbus and if the people will obey
his orders he will be successful in
stamping out the small-pox in a
short time. No new cases having
developed in town the 'quarantine
was raised Just Friday.

from here to Greeu River Cove. It
is claimed that the new road will
be well graded and be a great im
provement over the present road.

A very interesting entertainment
was given Friday evening, Feb. 20,
at the Club House by the Hospital
Circle foi the benefit of the hospi
tal fund. - It consisted of music,
plantation songs, jokes, cake walks,
conundrums and other features of
a minstrel performance. Owing to
the inclement weather and lack of
proper advertisement the audience
was small. It is hoped the enter
tainment will be repeated. The
promoters deserve much credit for
tneir faithful efforts in this noble
work.

Mr. Boone went to Saluda to

only son, B. T. Boone, who has
spent the fall and winter in the
" wooly west ' on the Pacific coast,
will start from Seattle for home
the 1st of March.

Our town is crowded with people
from the surrounding country now
adays and from the .demand for
hardware andr farming implements,
the farmers must be preparing to
W" get a move on themselves. It
will soon be time too, for the house
wives to begin to search in the old
coffee pots and by-places - ' for
garden seeds. Speaking of gardens
reminds us of Wm. Champion's
experiments. He said last year just
before gathering his early cabbage
he made a furrow between rows, or
set out a new crop, for late unes
and they weie fairly started before
he cut the first ones. This must
be a good plan for v the newly
