North Carolina has been in deed, fortunate in bein free .from the night riderijsm which has existed to the disgrace of a! number of southern states. From the report and news papers, we learn with regret and mortification that this anarch is about to invade th Old North State. It is reported that a number of Cleveland county farmers have received notices from the nirht riders warning them against having their "cotton ginned, while cotton is at such a low price. Through this malicious act of several cowards, the whole coun ty of Cleveland is reflected upon and every eve is turned towards her watching future develop ments We are satisfied that the good people of Cleveland a.e down on such lawlessness and feel tat even7 effort will be mfke by the law-abiding citizens to surpress this pending evil. That the Farmer's Union would Sancton such outrages is beyond question, for the wron is composed of good, religious citi zens and f an yon would enter ,tain such thoughts we beg them to dispell them from their minds a" once. If attemps at thJs lawlessness would be made in Polk, we know that "every good citizen would drive the offenders out of the county, as they would rightfully Church Directory. COLUMBUS, N. C.
