Funeral services were held Sun
day for Joe A. Register, 65, who
died Saturday at his hone, The ser
vices were held fronTBfe chapei of
Tyndall Funeral home in Mount
j Olive by the Rev. George Lane.
! Burial was in Wayne Memorial
Park.
Surviving are his wife, the form
er Odie Carter of Duplin County;
one daughter, Mrs. Katherine Lane
of Goldsboro; one brother, H. E.
Register of Warsaw; and one sis
ter, Mrs. Elizabeth Guy of Warsaw.
Merritt Funeral
Saturday
Hubert Merritt, 40, formerly of
Warsaw died Thursday in Norfolk,
Va.
Funeral services were held Satur
day afternoon at 4:00 O'clock in
the Quiim-McGowen Funeral Home
with Rev. D. E. Parkerson officiat
ing. Interment was in Pinecrest
Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, the
former Mary Lou Mathis, two dau
ghters Gloria and Mary Elizabeth
all of Warsaw and Hubert Merritt,
Jr. of Greenville. One grand child
Three sisters Mrs. Lester Brown
and Mrs. Lee Tucker both of War
saw and Mrs. Beulah Wiggs of
Goldsboro. Three brothers Ralph.
I Bill and John Henry Merritt and his
father John Merritt, Sr. all of War
I saw.
Club Meets With
Mrs. Hines
Mrs. Mitchell Britt was high scor
er for the evening when Mrs. Ed
Hines entertained members of her
bridge club Friday evening. Mrs
Britt received Christinas tree dec
orations and Mrs. Meet Ausley was
awarded bayberry candle in hold
er for second high scorer and Mrs
J. M. Kornegay was presented a
Christinas dish towel for consolation
prize. Others enjoying bridge were
Mrs. W. G. Britt, Mrs. Ed Strick
land, Mrs. Douglas Townsend, Mrs
John Vincent, and Mrs. John Fon
vielle.
During progressions the hostess
served crackers and Ookes. A con
gealed Chinese salad plate and cof
fee was served at conclusion of
play.

Hostess To Club
Mrs. B01 Taylor was hostess to
her bridge club at her home on
Meadow Lane Drive Thursday
evening at eight o'clock. Thost

ved and at conclusion of play,
fudge pie with ice cream and cof

When the scores were compiled.
Mrs. Walter P. West received a
Christmas apron for Ugh score.
Mrs. Mitchner was second high
scorer receiving also a Christmas
apron, and Mrs. Mathis was pre
sented a Christmas towel for con
solation prize.
Mrs. Herring
Honored
Mrs. M. L Kinlaw was hostess
to her bridge dub last Thursday
evening at her home on Memoria'
Drive. The members honored Mrs
J. B. Herring, Jr, with a surprise
stork shower. During mid point o'
play, Mrs. (Herring opened her
many nice and useful gifts, after
which the hostess served party,
squares. lemonade and potato
chips were enjoyed during progres
sions.
At the conclusion of the party, a
holiday candle was presented to
Mrs. Bill Grice for high scorer for
the evening. Mrs. Kinlaw presenter'
Mrs. William Costin with a holiday
vreath for secon dhigh scorer and
a Christmas, corsage was awarded
Mrs. Charles Page for traveling
prize.
Youth Music
Club Met
The.Warsaw Youth'Music Club
held it's Decemeber meetinrr in th<
Warsaw Junior High Auditorium.
Members of the club are frorr
grades three through ei ht. The*
students performed pieces that they
had learned and memorized with
out the help at their teacher. Mrs.
V. J. Middleton, Jr. presented each
Student who played with a small
gold "Baby Grand" piano pin.
