Did you know that Bob cats
are plentiful In the woods in
Duplin County? I was talking to
Arllss Alberts on. Monday, and
he was telling me about a group
of men going Bob cat hunting
on the past Saturday. He said
that he and Amos Lanier, El
wood Lanier, Wlnfred Mobley
and a group of men from Har
rell's store were hunting on the
river near Kenans vllle. He said
that the cat ran up a tree and
It was his Job to poke him out
with a long stick ? never in
this world would 1 have done It.
But it was fun to listen to
him tell how the cat would
slap and gnaw at the stick. Fi
nally the cat got out of die tree
* and the dogs got him. They got
two that day. He said they were
beautiful animals, weighing
about twenty to twenty-five
pounds. They are so graceful
he stated
Arllss told me that a cat
did not have a great range,
and that during a chase tney
would cross die same road
several times to get away from
their hunters.

David Byrd of Magnolia can

manship at the Four County
School In Rose HOI. He had a
bull which he hadn't bepraMa
to sell. 30 he used the tech

instructor telling about on his
prospective customer. David;
said, 'If fhadn't let him lay
it after that, I believe he mipt

The Meanest ? Yes
Mrs. Ted Tiedemann of Route
2. Pink Hill, went into her yard
last week and found large roof
ing tacks had been placed across
the driveways which entered
her yard. One tack hit. would
have meant one tire gone boom! I
The only reason she could
figure for such a nasty trick,
is that the Patrolman has been
parking in the driveway, as it
is a place where many people
speed and traffic needs check
ing ? and a number of persons
have been arrested along the
area.
Mrs. Tiedemann managed to
miss the tacks and did not have
a flat tire. Her husband is
overseas in service, and Mrs.
Tiedemann lives in a trailer
with her four young daughters.
