Gerald Davis of the Kin ston area,- his mother, Mrs. Leon Davis, Mrs. Harold Davis and his aunt, Mary Mercer, all visited with Harold Davis in the Rehabili tation Center in Fayetteville on Wednesday, Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Weston of Potters Hill area #opped in Beulaville Friday. Mrs. David (Adell) Parker of Kenansville shopped in Beulaville on Friday. Lucy Cooper of the North East Community near Wal lace was in Beulaville Friday on a business trip. Calvin Jones and Wallace Miller of Potters Hill enjoyed the day fishing in Trent River in the Trenton area Wednes day. ^ Mr. and Mrs. I.J. Sandlin. Sr.. son Randy and relatives of the family spent the past week at their cottage at Topsail Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Julian Lanier and girls. Christopher Scott Ken nedy. son of Mr. and Mrs. fVade Kennedy of Raleigh, arrived to spend two weeks with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Colon Whaley. Building Committer Meeting Ladin Lanier has called a short business meeting of the Senior Citizens Building Committee for Saturday night, July 10, after the regular monthly meeting. The members of this building committee are: L.M. Bostic, Mr. andMrs. Joel Kennedy. Rev. Rashie Kennedy, Rufftn Atkinson, Herman Smith, Bill Thigpen, Dora RhoHo Davis Kennedy, bailie Oxley, Josephine Thigpen, India Mobley, Thelma Houston, Avis Rhodes, Bertha Brown and Eunice Bostic. Officers were named at the first meeting of the building committee which was held June 17. Officers named were: Ladin Lanier, Chair man; Rev. Rashie Kennedy, Assistant Chariman; Vallie Oxley, Secretary; Mr. and Mrs. Joel Kennedy, Trea surer; L.M. Bostic, Joel Kennedy and Herman Smith, land building site committee; India Mobley, Thelma Houston. Avis Rhodes. Davis Kennedy, Bertha Brown and Eunice Bostic, Fund Raising Committee. This building committee will meet again at the Educa tional Building on Thursday night, July 15. at 8:00 P.M. Please make a special effort to be present at this second meeting and let's get the building program off and going. Red Cross Meeting The annual meeting of the Duplin County Chapter of the American Red Cross * was held on Wednesday after noon, June 30, 1982, at 4:00 in the Fellowship Hall of Grove Presbyterian Church in Kenansville. N.C. The Rev. Troy D. Mui'is, retired Presbyterian minister made the opening and closing prayers. Reports were heard from many of the activities of the chapter during the past year. Mrs. W.F. Stephens report on youth activities was given by Mrs. W.M. Ingram. After the report on the Christmas Cheer Project for the U.S. Naval Hospital at Camp Lejeune by Mrs. Viola W. Quinn. a report on Safety Service was given by Mrs. Mattie W. Barbee. She re vealed 15 safety classes had been taught during the past year. Some were in Multi media First Aid, others in CPR and still others in Water Safety and a total of 163 certificates were issued. Mrs. Boney's report on Ser vice to Military Families and Veterans showed assistances given to 78 families. Six of them were veterans, the others to families of men in active service. Fifty-five of them were new cases. ine nigniignt 01 tne meeting was the Blood mobile Report given by Mrs. Deborah Eaves consultant for Tidewater Region wiih headquarters at the Tar River Blood Center in Green ville. N.C. She was intro duced by Mrs. N.B. Boney. Mrs. Eaves thanked Duplin County for its good volunteer work with the 14 visits of the Bloodmobile during the past 12 months during which time a total of 1.114 pints of blood were donated.
