ENGAGED - Mr. and Mrs. George Frederick Kiser of
Mentlham, N.J., announce the approaching marriage of
their daughter. Ellen Marie, to Bryan Long Lewis, son of
Capt. Herbert T. Lewis CHC, USN, and Mrs. Lewis of
Virginia Beach, Va. The wedding is planned for September
11. Chaplain Lewis, the groom's father, is a former
minister of Faison Presbyterian Church. Miss Kiser is a
graduate of Gordon College. Wenham, Mass., where
Bryan will be graduated in November.

Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Stroud
went to Camp Rainbow near
Boone Friday and spent the
night. On Saturday they
brought back two campers
who had spent the week
there. They were Betsy
Jackson and Christy Kor
negay, who were sponsored
by Kenansville Chapter
#215, OES. Mr. and Mrs.
Jimmy Jackson had taken the
girls to camp the weekend
before.

and the groom-elect,
Timothy D. Cates of
Durham. Receiving with
them were her parents. Dr.
and Mrs. Edwin L. Boyetteof
Chinquapin, also his mother,
Mrs. Peggy Cates and her
son, Craig Cates of Durham,
also his maternal grand
mother, Mrs. Mangum.
The bride-elect and the
two mothers were all pinned
with carnation corsages,
The refreshment table was
centered with a floral ar
rangement of mums, carna
tions, snapdragons and
babies'-breath. A color note
of green and white with a
touch of pink was empha
sized. Mrs. Westbrook
served cake squares iced in
white and decorated with
pink rosebuds from one end
of the table and Mrs. Lemon
served green lime punch
from the opposite end. Other
refreshments consisted of
ham biscuits, nuts and
mints. Others assisting were
Pam and Karen Ezzell,
Catherine Phillips and Anna
Lemon. Goodbyes were said
to Mrs. Ezzell.
Eastern Star
Kenanville Chapter #215,
Order of the Eastern Star,
welcomed Joyce Williams,
district deputy grand
matron, and Kermit
Williams, district deputy
grand patron of the 8th
district of the Grand Chapter
of North Carolina at its
regular stated meeting July
27th. There were 44 Stars
present, including 21 local
members and 23 visiting
Stars. Among those present

were three from the Ingo
Chapter, five from Newton
Grove, three from Warsaw,
three from Garland, five
from Wallace, one from
Roseboro, and three from
Clinton.
Joyce brought greetings
from the worthy grand
matron, explained the Star
point signs, and made timely
remarks about "What Love
Really Is."
Kermit brought greetings
from the worthy grand
patron and explained the
special projects for home
maintenance of the Masonic
and Eastern Star home in
Greensboro.
They were honored at a
steak supper at The Country
Squire preceeding the regu
lar meeting, at which time
Sallv Tyndall. worthy matron ?
of the hostess chapter, wel
comed all present and gave a
love gift to Joyce, after?whieh
the worthy patron. J.B.
Stroud presented a ?gift to
Kermit and asked the
blessing. They were both
presented a corsage and
boutonniere respectively
from the chapter by Thelma
Murphy.
