All ahowsAfll $1 per person the William Boyette & Co., the accounting firm that did the county's audit, told the commissioners that in 1980, the county used 25% of the revenue sharing money in the general buJget on non capital outlay items. In 1982, that amount had risen to 70% of the revenue sharing funds or 11% of the budget. He said that to replace these federal moneys if they were cut would take 20 to 25% increase in the present tax rate. As the money market in creased in popularity and the I interest rates went skyward this past year, it stands to reason that companies that | usually carry a large inven I tory would cut that inventory and use that money in the money market or not borrow to maintain a larger than necessary inventory due to interest rates. Thus, at tax listing time, inventory would be down . . .Fewer dollars to tax. Duplin County has four large companies that usually carry a large inventory. It might be noteworthy to 1 say that the county payroll has grown along with this ' questionable use of revenue 1 sharing money. The amount ' of money brought in from taxes in Duplin County has 1 risen very little in the past 1 ten years. . .Yet, there is a ' new office of the county manager and a computer added to look after this money. . .The accounting office has increased in size, ' too. . .It is costing the taxpayer well over S150.000 a year more to collect prac tically the same amount of taxes. . .At times it seems the commissioners want to be elected to the job but don't have the time to do the job. .. ?MM Did you hear about the Kenansville lady who went to Walt Disney's Epcot and explored everything there . . .even the men's rest room. . .Son-of-a-Gun . .. Rose Hill Man Killed In Fire James Williams, 27, of Rose Hill, was found dead in a mobile home following a fire just past midnight Fri day. Rose Hill Fire Chief Clay ton Herring stated Williams was found by the door of the mobile home not breathing. Apparently Williams had out a pot on the gas stove and went to sleep on the couch. The stove burner was still on when firemen entered the mobile home after the gas had beer, turned off outside. The mobile home nad storm window and was very tight. The fire never broke out of the inside of the structure. In fact, it had burned itself out before firemen arrived, having apparently consumed all the oxygen inside the trailer.
