I Thomas-Godbold f Rites Solemnized Carolyn June Thomas and lobert Joe Godbold Sr. were inited in marriage in a jrivate candlelight service at 'our o'clock in the afternoon it the Warsaw United Methodist Church in-Warsaw ;>n November 26, 1982. toDr. Edward Gunter of Uinton officiated at the double-ring ceremony. The bride and groom were escorted to the altar by Jamie and Jeffrey Sumner of War saw, sons of the bride. ? ? - 1 me ortae cnose an old fashioned gown of antique beige with scoop neckline and three-quarter length sleeves of lace, with a slightly gathered waistline, the skirt falling into two tiers of ruffles at the hem line. She carried a nosegay of silk flowers in blue, beige and brown with antique beige streamers. The sanctuary was deco rated in blue, beige and brown flowers and coordi nating candles held by brass candelabras were draped ivy. I^ie chandeliers were drimly lit while John W. Boyette of Warsaw furnished soft music in the background. The bride's sons, Jamie and Jeffrey Sumner, also served as ushers to the family members and close friends who witnessed the solemn vows. Mothers were presented with white carnation cor sages identical to the bou tonnieres of the groom and ushers. Mrs. Carolyn Lanier of Chinquapin presided at the guest register. Mrs. Hilda B. Booth of Kenansville served as wedding director. The bride is originally from White Lake and em ployed at Wiley T. Booth Insurance of Kenansville. groom, son of Elizabeth B. Godbold and the late C.L. Godbold, farms with his brothers at Godbold Farms, Inc. of Warsaw. After a honeymoon to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, the couple will reside at Chelly Street in Warsaw. Kenansville News Presbyterian Cluster Dinner On Tuesday, Dec. 7, Grove Presbyterian Church hosted the Pink Hill Area Cluster chftrches, made up of Grove and Smith's Presbyterian Churches, Pink Hill Presby ?Nan Church and Pleasant View Presbyterian Church, to a Christmas pot-luck supper and musical program. After a bountiful home cooked meal in the fellowship hall, which was beautifully deeorated by the women of Grove Church, the group of 35' men and women ex changed $1 gifts and then moved into the sanctuary to ^joy Chirstmas music. The music was provided by Smith's chori, which sang "Ring the Bells," and "The Holy City"; Jill Long and Dickey, who sang "He Shall Feed His Flock" and "Come Unto Him" from Handel's Messiah; and im-promptu chorus, which sang the "Hallelujah" chorus, also from the Messiah. After these renditions, the group joined in singing Christmas carols Silver Streaker* Don't forget that the regular meeting of the Silver Streakers will oe held at the Kenansville United Metho dist Church at 3 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Mrs H.D. Taylor is working up the program. Her topic is "A Christmas Spectacular." Mark the date so you will be there on Monday, Dec. 20. Bring a gift wrapped package for the contest. Baby Shower Mrs. Eddie Bass was given a baby shower on Saturday night, Dec. 11, in the private room of The General Store. Hostesses were Hilda Booth, Wylene Hewitt, Sheila Veach and Brenda Brown. The honoree was pinned with a unique corsage upon her arrival. She was assisted In opening her many useful gifts by her mother, Nadine Blanton, and Eddie's mother, Eleanor Bass. For refreshments the guests en joyed cake squares, cocoanut balls, cheese straws, sugared pecans and other finger foods with hot apple juice. T. & C. Bridge Club Mrs. Kenneth King was hostess for the Town and Country Bridge Club when it met Tuesday night with Mrs. Stuart Hall substituting for the only absent member. Mrs. J.J. Wells won the high score prize for members and Mrs. Hall was also given a gift. For refreshments, Mrs. King, assisted by Mrs. Hazel W. Scott, served chicken salad tarts, pumpkin bread, cheese and red and green jello. The members ex changed gifts before depart ing. Birthday Party Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth King honored their oldest daughter, Kristin, on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 5, to help celebrate her third birthday. There were about 32 friends neighbors and relatives present. Those from out-of town included Mr. and Mrs. Elton Soles of Long Beach. Helping serve were f^es dames Billy Barnette, Kenneth Savage, Ernest Grainger, Kenneth Smith and RalDh Paae. Winnie-the Pooh motif was carried out in the cake, which was served with iced drinks and ice cream. Party favors were given to the guests. Birthday Supper Melissa Grainger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Grainger Jr. of the Duplin Country Club area, was given a buffet supper on Monday night, Dec. 6, by her parents honoring her on her second birthday. Among the out-of-town guests present were her paternal grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Grainger Sr. of Wil mington. Others present from out-of-town were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Dail also of Wilmington; Mrs. Elaine Holland and Chris of Golds boro, also Mrs. Bridgett Murphy and four children, Mrs. Elli Anderson and granddaughter, Heather, and Mrs Sheila Anderson of Watha. They served ham, turkey, green beans, potato salad, rolls, homemade bread and chocolate cake in addition to the birthday cake, which carried out the Mickey Mouse idea, along with tea or coke to drink. Past Matrons and Patrons Sixteen members and one visitor were present Monday night, Dec. 6, when the Kenansville Chapter #215, Past Matrons and Patrons held the^ annual Christmas party at the Rose Hill Rest aurant.
