Wilson. 61. a psychiatrist and mental health researcher, died of a heart attack while driving to his Garner home Friday. Wilson was returning from his job at the Duplin County Mental Health Center when he was stricken near Clinton at about 6:45 p.m. His car came to a stop in a ditch on the side of the road. Born in Scotland and edu- ? cated in Edinburgh and England. Wilson was a re search psychiatrist for the state mental health division from 196.1 to 1979. He pub lished many papers ori mental health therapy and drugs. He was best known for his research on hormones implicated in schizophrenia and depression and for re search on inherited mental illness. Wilson was the 1981 reci pient of the Eugene A. Hargrove Mental Health Re search Award. given by the N.C. Foundation for Mental Health Research. He is survived by his wife.
