Dixon Receives Eagle Scout Award On Dec. 12 James W Dixon Jr. was presented the Eagle Scout Award, the highest a boy can earn in the Boy Scout program. The ceremony was conducted by William E. Faust, chairman of the Croat an District Round, able at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mount Olive. Jimmy is the 16-year-old son of Goldshoro Stake President and Mrs. James W. Dixon of Warsaw, He has one brother, Jeffrey. His paternal grandparent is the late Mrs. Gladys Repine and his maternal grandparents are Mrs. Jewell Summerlin Home and the late Liston D. Summerlin. His step-grand fathers are Marcus L. Home and Anthony (Chick) Repice. kUgwn Jimmy attends James Kenan High School where he is a B" student. He played football for one year before starting seminary. He is a priest in the Mount Olive Ward of the Goldsboro Stake in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has served as president of the deacons in the Aaronic Priesthood and presently is president of the ward semi nary class where he is in his third year of Seminary He is also serving as first vice president of the stake semi nary committee and as first vice-chairman of the stake youth ad hoc committee. Jjmmy has been a Bov Scout for six vears. He was a member of Troop #20 in Warsaw for three years and has been a member of Troop 755 in Mount Olive for three years. He has served in various offices in both troops including scribe, historian, patrol leader, junior patrol leader and senior patrol leader. He has also been a member of the Order ofMhe Arrow of the Tuscarora Council, an honorary order for outstanding scduts. He was inducted into the Order of the Arrow this year. In a charge to the Scout, Mount Olive Ward Bishop Edward C. Hudson stated that Jimmv has great leader ship ability. At the conclu sion of his talk. Bishop Hudson presented Jimmy with the On My Honor award from the church. Jimmy gave his remarks in which he expressed appre ciation for his parents and leaders, and most especially the church leaders who had encouraged and led him in his climb to the Eagle award. He also expressed a sincere dOfcire to set a good example for the*?bys in his troop and other Boy Scouts. He stated that he hopes his sons can oeneiti trom me cnurcn pro grams such as Scouting, as he has. He said that his goals are to go on a mission for the Church and to be married in the Temple to a worthy mate. Others participating in the ceremony included Lathan Wiggins, reciting "1 Am An American," Lindy Wiggins presenting the letter from the National Scouting Organization. Scoutmaster Marvin Swinson and Eagle Scouts Brian Deaver and Douglas Wiggins giving the Scout Laws, and Scouts Michael Wiggins. Creighton Fowler. Brad Moore and Michael Evans presenting the colors. Janice Cumby. pianist. Allison Bonev, violinist. Polly Herring, pianist, and Melody Fowler, ilutist. presented two sepa rate patriotic selections. A reception followed pre pared by the Relief Society with a sheet cake decorated with a large silver eagle made bv Karen Northrop of Warsaw. Decorations were done bv Jimmy's mother and grandmother. Ricky Steamboat Kenansville Jaycees Sponsor Wrestling The Kenan Memorial Auditorium will be the site for an action-packed night of popular Mid-Atlantic Cham pionship Wrestling on Tues day. Jan. 25 at 8:15 p.m. The matches arc being sponsored by the Kenansvillc Jaycees. Highlighting the big card will be a free-swinging six man tag team tussle as the much-hated trio of Sgt. Slaughter. Don Kernodle and Paul Jones collide with the very popular team of Ricky Steamboat. Jay Youngblood and Sweet Brown Sugar. The fans will not want to miss any of the action in this battle as there is no love lost between these two teams and they will be going all out to settle their differences once and for all in this match. Slaughter. Ker nodle and Jones have shown that the rules mean nothing them and this could cause problems for Steamboat, Voungblood and Sugar. In a singles match the television championship will be on the line as Mike Rot undo, the very popular champion, defends his title for only the first 15 minutes of the match against the former champion, tough Jos LcDuc. Rotundo will have to be on his toes in this match as LeDuc will be out to do anything that he can to regain the title. The kids will be treated to plenty of action in a special match that features two of the top midget wrestlers in the country. Little Tokyo takes on Tiny Tom in a match that will definitely be excit ing. There will also be other action-packed matches on the big card. Are You Overweight?
