Murphy Named To Committees Committee appointments have been announced for the 1983 session of the N.C. House of Representatives. Representing the 10th Dis trict composed of Duplin and Jones counties, Wendell Murphy is seated on the following committees: Agriculture, Appropria tions. Banks and TTirift In stitutions, Election Laws, Higher Education, Insu rance, Local Government, Public Utilities, and the Uni versity Board of Governors nominating committee. Rep. Murphy has been assigned to office 601 in the Legislative Office Building. The office telephone number is (919) 733-9597. Mrs. Su rena Henderson of Trenton will serve as secretary. Governor Hunt made his state of the state address to a joint House-Senate meeting of the General Assembly on Monday. Jan. 17. He told the lawmakers that our best days arc ahead of us, not behind us. Gov. Hunt said his legis lative program is limited in length, but unlimited in hope for the future. 1 he first bill introduced in this session of both Senate and House was the Safe Roads Act, better known as the "drunk-driving" bill. The bill has been assigned to committee and is expected to receive a favorable report. The bill is 76 pages in length and is expected to draw considerable debate. The law finally adopted may be an amended version. but passage seems certain.
