DISCUSS PLANS FOR DUPLIN ARTS COUNCIL FUND
DRIVE ? The executive director and several members of
the Duplin County Arts Council Board of Directors
prepared for the annual fund drive slated to begin on
February 14. The fund drive is a countywide project and
will have its kick-tiff on Sunday, Feb. 13 at the courtroom
in the Courthouse in Kenansville. Representative Wendell
Murphy is chairman for the drive. Other area chairmen

Arts Council Kick-Off Is Slated For Sunday

Sunday afternoon from
4:30 - 5:30 p.m.. the Dunlin
County Arts Council will offi
cially launch its 1983 fund
drive in the Duplin County
courtroom. Town workers
and Arts Council supporters
. are being issued subpoena to
; appear at the meeting in the
courtroom! The fund drive
kick-off will follow the All
County Band concert which
is being held in Beulaville.
Concert co. rdinators have
assured there will be time to
travel from Beulaville to the
Kcnansville meeting.

speak of their commitment to
the arts and their encourage
ment to others to support the
arts in the county.
Sunday's program will also
include an explanation of
materials for fund-drive
workers and inventive helps
tor rund-raisers. "We want
people to feel good about this
solicitation." says Merle
Creech, director of the

ing. If the arts are to con
tinue at the level in which
thcv are now visible in our
county, and indeed, if they
are to grow and become more
visible, we need for our
citizens to contribute. We
need health endoresement
and attitudes toward our
county's organization for the
arts. It is a wonderful chal

COUNCIL DO?
