LENOIR FARMERS WIN NADA AWARDS - The nine
county Neuse Area Development Association presented
agricultural, poultry and livestock awards Feb. 2 in
Kinston. Pictured above, left to right, Billy Smith of Seven
Springs was presented the NADA outstanding beef-cow
calf second place, and Curtis Harper of Pink Hill received
the top award as the outstanding young swine farmer of
1982. Corn, soybeans, beef cattle, swine and poultry
awards are presented to farmers in the NADA area each
year by the Agricultural Extension departments.

Presbyterian Circle #2
Circle #2 of the Women of
Grove Presbyaterian Church
met Tuesday night with Mrs.
Billy Jo Stroud. The meeting
was presided over bv Mrs.
Jack Sitterson, who also con
ducted the devotional in
cluding the opening prayer.
Mrs. J.J. Wells was the
Bible moderator. She was
assisted by Mrs. Pat Gabriel,
who read the scripture pas
sage. After the closing
prayer, the hostess, assisted
by Katie Brown and Anne
Houston, served a sweet
course to the 11 present.

OES, when it met Tuesday
night. Virginia Holland told
of the origin of Valentine Day
after which Celia Stroud read
a poem entitled "A Valen
tine." Louise K Boney read a
poem entitled "Valentine
Day" and Ruby G. Newton
closed the program with a
poem called "Valentines."
After the meeting adjourned,
those present enjoyed a
social hour, during which
time red velvet cake and hot
mulled cider were served
with salted nuts.
