Wed In Double Ring Ceremony . . _ I L) n? tUn Maria Ruth Ard, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Norman Ard of Route 1. Pink Hill, and William Craig Ham. son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Ham of 500 Tyree Road. Kinston, were united in marriage on February 12. 1983. at Christian Chapel Free Will Baptist Church at six-thirty in the evening. The Rev. Ed Miles, pastor of the church, led in the opening ceremony. After the bride was given in marriage by her father, the Rev. Norman Ard, he in turn completed the wedding cere mony. The bride wore her mother's white wedding gown of 26 years ago. It featured a fitted satin bodice with an overlay of lace and rhinestones, having a rounded neckline, accented with her grandmother's antioue pearls and lone fitted lace sleeves. The soft flowing satin gathered skirt was covered with net tulle which draped in the back with a short train. Her chapel length veil of silk illusion with a blusher and bordered in lace, was attached to her mother's satin and lace covered hat etched with rhinestones. She carried a bouquet attached to a white bride's Bible of miniature white rosebuds accented with stephanotis, greenery and bridal ribbon. The bride chose as her matron of honor Mrs. Deborah Daughty of Kin ston. sister of the groom. Her bridesmaids were Miss Svlvia Ard of Sfuckev. S.C.. aunt of the bride. Mrs. Billie Ard of Kinston. sister-in-law of the bride. Mrs. Regina Hill of Pink Hill, and Miss Leigh Daughty of Kinston. neice of the groom. The attendants' long dresses were made of soft burgundy crepe designed with three quarter length sleeves and worn with a quilted vest of burgundy and gold accented \A U?1. Tt 1_J *>iin a gv>iu uch. i ncy tarncu off-white laced Victorian fans covered with white pompons, burgundy Rover pons, greenery and ribbon. The groom chose his father as his best man. His ushers were Mike Ham of Kinston. bother of the groom. Mac Daughty of Kinston. brother in-law of the groom. Joe Ard of Kinston. brother of the bride, and Todd Ard of Pink Hill, brother of the bride. The ushers wore black tuxedos with tails, white shirts, bow ties and a white boutonniere. The groom wore an all white tuxedo with tails and a white rosebud. Nuptial music was pro vided by Ned Bradberry of Goldsboro, pianist, and Richard Blakemoore of Kin ston. trumpeteer. The pro cessional for the attendants was "Jesu. Joy of Man's Desiring" by J.S. Bach. As the bride and her father entered the church, the pro cessional was changed to "Trumpet Voluntary." by H. Purcell. The entire wedding party recessed to the "Trumpet Voluntary." Mrs. Emogene Howard of Deep Run directed the wed ding and Miss Michele Gray ui uccp i\uu jjicsiutu ai IIIC register. The bride is a 1976 gradu ate of South Lenoir High School, a 1978 graduate of Mount Olive College, a 1980 graduate of Atlantic Chris tian College, and a 1982 graduate of East Carolina University. She has recently been music director of Chris tian Chapel Church and a private piano instructor. The groom is a 1977 graduate of South Lenoir High School and has three years of education from At lantic Christian College. He is employed at Granite City Recording Studio as a staff musician in Mount Airy. After a wedding trip to Williamsburg. Va., the couple will reside at 220 Mayberry Apartments, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Reception A reception was given following the wedding by the bride's parents and friends of Christian Chapel Church. An all-white four-tiered wedding cake was served by Mrs. Lynda W. Stroud and punch was served by Mrs. Audrey Powell. Other help ers for the reception were Mary Ellen King, Myrtle Howard, Shirley Metts, Dorothy Howard, Cynthia Smith, Syl Gray and Brenda Tyndall. Other helpers were Gay Powell. Sheila Metts, Dena Kav and Karen Tvn dall. Dawn Smith, Melissa Howard and Angie Tyndall. Showers and Parties A miscellaneous shower was given by friends of the Christian Chapel Church at the home of the bride on Jan. 14th. A supper was given by close friends in honor of the bride at The Country Squire in Kenansville on Jan. 20. A lingerie shower was given for the bride by Mrs. Deborah Daughty at her * home on Jan. 2V. A covered-dish supper was S'ven by Christian Chapel lurch in honor of the couple on Feb. 10. A miscellanous shower was given by the groom's family on Feb. 6 at the home of Carol Ham. A rehearsal party was given by the groom's parents at King's Barbecue in Kinstonon Feb. 11. Birth Announcement Mr. and Mrs. Mike Conner of Route 2, Deep Run, an nounce the birth of their daughter. Anna Blake, on Feb. 13, 1983, at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Connor is the former Judy Humphrey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Humphrey of Route 2, Deep Run.
