Holt Promoted
At BB&T
Edgar A. Holt III
Edgar A. Holt III has been
promoted to vice president
by the board of directors of
BB&T at its meeting in
Wilson. Holt is the city
executive in the Warsaw
office.
He joined the bank and
entered the management de
velopment program in 1974.
In 1975 he was assigned to
the Kinston office, and while
there was promoted to
assistant cashier. In 1978 he
moved to the Warsaw offfice
and was promoted to assis
tant vice president. Prior to
becoming city executive, he
had served in the W;r
office as business
manager and bran, h mana
ger.
Holt graduated with a B.S.
in business administration
from Atlantic Christian Col
lege.
He is presently a member
of the Warsaw Jaycees in
which he has held several
key offices. In 1982 he re
ceived the Warsaw Jaycees'
Distinguished Service award.
He holds district and council
offices in the Boy Scouts of
America and in 1982 received
the Tuscarora Council Dis
trict Award of Merit. He is
also treasurer of the War
saw-Kenansville Rotary
Club.
He and his wife, "Yvonne,
are members of the Warsaw
United Methodist Church
where he is a committee
chairman. They have two
children. Holt is a native of
Princeton.
Rich Elected
Regional Officer
Chief Rosa) Rich of the
Wallace police department
was elected secretary-trea
surer of the Coastal Law
Enforcement Officer's Asso
ciation. recently formed by
law enforcement members of
the southern coastal region
of North Carolina.
The major purposes of the
association are to foster
communications between the
various law enforcement
agencies in the area and to
consolidate resources for the
improvement of services
provided the citizens.
Already a joint training
venture has been held for
personnel as a result of the
association formation.
Chief James Sloop of Long
Beach was elected president
and Chief James Carter of
Surf City vice president at
the Feb. 23 meeting held at
Long Beach Community
Building.
The next meeting will be
hosted by Chief Andy Carter
of Burgaw.
Arts Council Presents
Davy Crockett Musical
The Duplin County Arts
Council brings Davy Crockett
to life at two county middle
schools. Brought to Duplin in
coordination with North
Carolina Grassroots Fund
ing. this play will tell of the
turning point of this great
American frontiersman's
life.
The Young Davy Crockett,
a live musical about the
fanciest dancin', best b'ar
skinnin*. best shot in Ten
nessee is in town. The show
will be presented at Charity
Junior High at 9 a.m. and at
North Duplin Jr. High at 1
p.m. on Monday, March 14.
The musical will be pre
sented by the Children's
Musical Theatre of Mobile, a
non-profit corporation
devoted to the elevation and
instruction of children
through the means of live
performances.

Ruritan
At their regular meeting
for the month of February,
the Back Swamp Ruritan
Club was entertained by
gospel singing by the Swin
son Sisters, Pam and Mel
anie. They are the daughters
of the Reverend and Mrs.
Harold Swinson. There were
20 members attending and
they enjoyed a meal pre
pared by the food committee.
The speaker ot the evening
was the Honorable James R.
Strickland. Superior Court
judge. He gave a very in
formative program on the
judicial system in North
Carolina, covering such
topics as plea bargaining,
work release programs,
prison conditions and the
different kinds of crimes. His
program was well received.
