HOUSTON-CHEERY ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED - Mr. and Mrs. Charlie W. Cherry of Clemmons announced the engagement of their daughter, Karen Faye Cherry to Sandy Lane Houston of Reidsville. Houston is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ashley Houston of Route 2, Pink Hill. Miss Cherry is a graduate of West Forsyth High School and East Carolina University. She is employed by W.A. Adams Co., Inc. of Oxford. Mr. Houston is a garduate of East Duplin High School and attended East Carolina University. He is self-employed as a tobacco auctioneer. A May 7th wedding is planned at Clemmons Moravian Church. ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Rowe of Raleigh announce the engagement of their daughter. Susan Louise Rowe of Alexandria Virginia, to Christopher William Ingram of Winston-Salem, son of Mr. and Mrs. William M. Ingram of Raleigh. The wedding is planned for May 21 at four o'clock in First Presbyterian Church of Raleigh. Ingram is a grandson of Mrs. Sallie C. Ingram of Kenansville. STEWART-JONES ENGAGEMENT - Mrs. Arnold M. Jones Sr. of Warsaw announces the engagement of her daughter. Sharann Arletcy, of Chapel Hill to Henry Lewis Stewart of Pikeville. Her father is the late Mr. Jones. Mr. Stewart is the son of Mrs. Jesse S. Stewart and late Mr. Stewart of Fremont. The April 24 wedding will be held in the Warsaw Baptist Church at half past three in the afternoon. Warsaw Garden Club Meets The Warsaw Garden Club met on March 2 at the Country Squire with 18 members present. Mrs. C.M. Rice, president, called the meeting to order at noon. The members read the Warsaw Garden Club collect. Mrs. Rice called for re ports. Mrs. E.C. Thompson gave the report on booklets of historical homes in Warsaw, Mrs. Turner Holland, historian, showed members a selection of scrapbooks to be selected by members. Mrs. Henry L. Stevens Jr. membership chairman, made recommen dations to increase the mem bership to 30 members. She also made a recommendation to add a finance ways and means committee to the club. Mrs. Thomas Hall, pro gram chairman, introduced Thomas Hall to give the program. Hall suggested ways to control weeds and insects on shrubs and ways to fertilize plants and shrubs. Jnnklns Enlists In U.S. Air Forcn Margo A. Jenkins, daughter of Mrs. Carpi K. Jenkins of Kenansville, has enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Airman Jenkins joined under the Air Force's De layed Enlistment Program (DEP). This program will allow Airman Jenkins, a senior at James Kenan High School, to graduate before reporting for active duty on August 23rd. Sergeant Ken McCullen, Air Force recruiter in Golds boro, stated that Airman Jenkins successfully com pleted a series of tests which qualified her for the environ mental systems field of training. Carawan Honored * Kirk D. Carawan of Rose Hill, representative for Woodmen of the World Life \ Insurance, has been notified that he has quilified for the president's cabinet by writing $4,Q96,250 of insu rance. His membership in ' the multi-millionaire section of the President's Clubs honors his performance during 1982.
