VISIT MURPHY IN RALEIGH - Tenth
District State Representative Wendell H.
Klurphy of Rose Hill was visited in Raleigh
last Tuesday by a delegation of his
constituents from Jones county. The group
lunched with Murphy after which he showed
them into the House chambers and dis
cussed some procedures lawmakers follow.
They .visited his office in the Legislative
office' building before resuming tbeir
planned activities for the 1983 North
Carolina Extension Homemakers Legislative

Liberty Festival Variety Show
The Pink Hill Liberty
Festival is sponsoring a
variety show to be held this
Saturday night at the Pink
Hill School Auditorium
beginning at 7 p.m.
Featured will be Miss

Drama Club and Comedian
Cecil Burke of LaGrange.
A special attraction of the
evening will be Doc's Magic
Show, a professional magic
show featuring Bill Robinson
of Jacksonville.
The word "magic" means
different things to many
people, but in Eastern North
| Carolina, to many of these
people, the name Bill Robin
son means magic.
Bill is the only full-time'
professional magician in the
area and is probably "one of
the most active entertainers
in the region. He has per
formed for private parties,
banquets, carnivals, camp
grounds and workshops in
the coastal area. The groups

Bill has also appeared on the
Marine Corps Air Station,
New River, eight times in as
many months, on WJNC
Radio and on programs of the
area's three television net
works.
Bill's most recent accom
plishment is t successful
completion of 11 consecutive
b weeks at Harvey's Lounge in
the Holiday Inn at Jackson
ville. This is the longest any
act has played the hotel.
Admission is $2 for adults
and children under 12, ac
companied by a parent is $ 1.

The Lenoir County Schools
will hold kindergarten regis
tration during the week of
April 11-15. Registration will
be held at all of the ele
mentary schools ? Banks,
Contentnea, LaGrange,
Moss Hill, Pink Hill and
Southwood.
Parents or guardians are
asked to bring the child's
birth certificate ana a copy of
their record of immuniza
tions.
In ord"r for a child to be
eligible to enter kindergarten
during the 1983-84 school
year, he or she must have
reached their fifth birthday
on or before Oct. 16, 1983.
The N.C. immunization
law requires a minimum
number of immunizations for
all children and a parent
must show proof of a child's
immunizations to the school
principal.
The following vaccinations
are required: * 3 DTP (Dip
theria, Tetanus, Pertussis)
shots; ? 3 OPV (Oral Polio
Vaccine) Doses; * 1 Measles
(Rubella) Shot - Adminis
tered on or after the child's
first birthday: and * 1
Rubella (German Measles)
Shot.
Each child will have one
month from his or her date of
enrollment to supply a copy
of their immunization record.
Failure to meet the minimum
requirements after one
month will result in the child
being suspended from school
until the requirements are
met.
It is hoped that parents
will please take the time to
register their kindergarten -
age children during the week
of April 11-15, according to
Mrs. Angelia M. Davis, K-8
instructional consultant.

Lenoir School PTA Tour Day
Members of the county
schools PTA officers council
has designated Tuesday.
March 29 as a PTA School
Tour Day. The tour of the
schools is being sponsored
by the county-wide PTA
council and the Board of
Education.
The tour will begin at 9
a.m. at the Board of Educa
tion office and will involve
schools in the southern
portion of Lenoir County.
Another tour involving
schools in the northern
portion of Lenoir County is
scheduled later this school
year.
Mrs. Linda Sutton, presi
dent of the 11-county
schools' PTA council, said
that parents or any citizen
wishing to take part in the
tour should contact the
principal at South Lenoir
High, Woodington,
Southwood, Pink Hill or
Moss Hill before March 25 to
be included in the tour.
Mrs. Sutton added that
participants do not have to be
PTA members nor have to
reside in the county school
district.
MRS. WILSON'S THIRD GRADERS at Pink Hill School
have been busy during the month of February making
Indian and pioneer projects for social studies. Much
creativity and ingenuity have been shown in making
covered wagons, teepees, totem poles, log cabins, bows
and arrows, spears, canoes, peace pipes and other objects
depicting Indian and pioneer life. All the students'
projects have been on display in the media center at Pink
