Seven Springs, announce the engagement of their daughter. Teresa Gaye. to John Henry Smith, son of Mrs. Ruth Smith of Mount Olive and the late John R. Smith. The wedding is planned for June 19 at Brooks Chapel. Young-ln-Hearts Club Meet The Young-in-Hearts ft Senior Citizens Club met March 23 at the Pink Hill Presbyterian Church. Club president Lottie Noble pre sided. The devotional was given by Belle Jones. Bruce Simmons accompanied the group in singing the Senior Citizens theme song. The secretary's and treasurer's reports were given by Gladys Howard and Eliza King re spectively. Announcements of upcoming activities were made by club advisor. Sue Akoury. The club's next meeting will be at 2 p.m. on Wed nesday. April 27. for a birth day party. Tyndall-Koonce Pledge Vows Miss Connie Lynn Koonce of Pink Hill and Bobby Lynn Tyndall of Deep Run were united in marriage Saturday, April 2 at seven o'clock in the Christian Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. Ed Miles and the Rev. Norman Ard officiated at the double ring ceremony. The bride was escorted to the altar by her uncle, Terry Koonce of Kinston. She is the daughter of Mrs. Magdalene Koonce of Route 1, Pink Hill, and the late Bob S. Koonce. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Gene Tyndall of Deep Run. The bride wore a white formal-length gown of poly ester organza and Chantilly lace featuring a high lace trimmed neckline with a Shiffli embroidered insert. The bodice was accented in seed pearls with motifs of lace and long puffed sleeves with appliques of lace and wide lace cuffs ending with a ruffle of organza. The full circular skirt was accented with lace appliques. Chan tilly lace trimmed the at tached chapel-length train. The Juliette headpiece of pearls was attached to a waltz-length two-tiered rolled edge veil of silk illu sion. The bride carried a silk bouquet of lavender and white azaleas, lilips and stephanotis showered with ribbon steamers. Miss Patsy Kennedy of Pink Hill, friend of the bride, was the maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Angie Tyndall of Deep Run, sister of the groom, and Michelle Deaver of Deep Run, cousin of the groom. The groom's father served as best man. Groomsmen were W.H. Howard of Pink Hill and Bobby G. Koonce of New Bern, brother of the bride. Patricia Lugo and Dewalae Koonce, nieces of the bride. were flowergirls. The ring bearer was Bradley Miller, nephew of the bride. Mrs. Louise Summerlin of Seven Springs was the pianist and Mrs. Emogene Howard of Deep Run was the soloist. Mrs. Lynda W. Stroud directed the wedding. Debbie Miller, sister of the bride, presided at the guest registry. The bride is a senior at South Lenoir High School. The groom is a graduate of South Lenoir High School and is employed at Guilford East. After a wedding trip to un announced points, the couple will make their home on Route 1, Deep Run. Immediately following the ceremony, the mother of the bride entertained at a recep tion in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Betty Carol Tyndall served cake. Mrs. Mary Ann Lugo poured punch. The silver five-branched candel abra held an arrangement of yellow and lavender fuji poms and pink carnations showered with gypsophila. Identical fresh flowers adorned the wedding cake. Prior to the rehearsal April 1, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Gene Tyndall entertained the bridal couple, wedding party and out-of-town guests at a barbecue heW at the' Chris tian Chapel fellowship hall. The bridesmaids luncheon was held on April 1 at the home of Betty Carol Tyndall with Mrs. Tyndall and Mrs. Carrie Mae Tyndall as co hostesses. The Smiths Kenansville News . Duplin Duplicate Bridge The Dublin Duplicate Bridge Club played a five table Howell movement Thursday with Doug Clark as director. The winners were: First - Kay Autry and Doug Clark of Kenansville; Second ? Vickie Vinson and Elli Zackheim of Kenansville; Third ? Ed Crute and I.J. Sandlin of Beulaville. Complete plans for a special charity game to be held April 28 will be an nounced later. All bridge players are invited to play duplicate bridge every Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at The General Store in Kenansville. Highway Patrol Wives The North Carolina High way Patrol State Auxiliary held its semi-annual meeting in Gastonia March 25-27. Local members attending were Brenda Edwards, Letress Hammonds and Kay Autry. At the Saturday business meeting it was reported that the entire $5,000 had been raised to buy a pair of bears for the State Zoo as soon as the zoo could build an ap propriate habitat for them. Members are still studying a plan to build a monument to officers who have been killed in the line of duty. The seminars were on Patrol insurance and bene fits and on self-assertion. After the business meeting, the ladies enjoyed shopping in Gastonia and Charlotte. The next convention was set for Southern Pines in Oc tober. Weiner Roast Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Price honored their daughter, Tiffany, with a weiner roast in their back yard Wed nesday afternoon to help her celebrate her 12th birthday. About 30 friends and neigh bors began arriving on March 29th at 4:39 in the afternoon. After singing and dancing to the stereo music, they enjoyed hot dogs, potato chips, peanuts and soft drinks along with the birth day cake which was iced in yellow and held green candles. Slumber Party Kathy Bowden, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicky Bowden of Pinecrest Acres, was given a slumber party Thursday night by her parents. Her guests were: Nagia Aramar. Courtney Zackheim, Renee Taylor, Sarah Williamson, Karen Brinson and Shanna Hutch ins. For supper thev en joyed hot dogs, potato chips, pepsis and birthday.
