Lodge in Kinston Friday for the Kennedy family reunion. . There were 40-45 members J present. Out of a family of seven children, only one is deceased*. Birth Announcements * Mr. and Mrs. Scott Romb ' lad of Wilmington announce * the birth of their second son ~ on Wednesday, March 2, r 1983. at New Hanover Me * morial Hospital. He was ? named Nathan Ray. J; Mrs. Romblad is the * former Jerri Ray Kennedy, ? daughter of Mrs. Elva Ken * nedy of Beulaville and the * late Ray Kennedy. The other grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Romblad of Wilmington. Mr. and Mrs. Keith . Chambers announce the birth of their daughter. Can dice Marie, on Monday, March 21, 1983 in Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston. Mrs. Chambers is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Thigpen of Beula ville and the paternal grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Chambers. Great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Earl Thigpen of Beu laville. Sumner Family Reunion The Sumner Family re union will be held at the Sandy Plain Free Will Baptist Church educational building on Sunday, April 24 at 1 p.m. Bring a picnic basket. This is for all the Sumner clan of the Sandy Plain community. Sandy Plain Senior Citizens The Building Committee of the Sanay Plain Senior Senior Citizens are asked to meet in the education"1 building April 14 at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. L.M. Bostic, presi dent. called a meeting of the bazaar committee to meet Friday night, April IS at 7:30 p.m. at the educational building to make plans for the fall bazaar dinner and sale. The Senior Citizens met April 9 with a covered dish supper followed by their regular program. There were 68 in attendance. The program was given by Lura Jones, Mae Blizzard, Catherine Turner and Chilton Jones. A brief business meeting was held with a report of the building committee chair man, Joel Kennedy. A trip was announced to be taken May 10. It will take in the Planetarium in Chapel Hill and Duke Chapel in Durham. Forty-one have signed up to take the trip. Grace Baker Sumner and Kathryn Garner gave a candlelight memorial to Nola D. Jenas, a deceased member. Kenansville Barbecue? The Kenansville Elemen tary School PTO and faculty will sponsor a barbecued pork supper Friday, April 15 in the scho. 1 :afeteria from 4-8 p.m. The plates will be S3 each and consits of barbecue, potato salad, slaw, hush puppies, tea or coffee. Des sert will be available for 50 cents extra. You may take out or eat in. There will be a cash draw ing for $100 at 7:30 p.m Kenansville News Duplin Duplicate Bridge The Duplin Duplicate Bridge Club played a five table Howell movement at its regularly scheduled Thurs day game with Doug Clark the non-playing director. The winners were: First - Shirley Stainback and Walter Rouse of Kinston; second - Fran Beyer and Kay Autry of Kenansville; Third - Merle 1 Currin and Bill Hussey of Wallace. The club now has two ' newly-qualified directors. ' They are Lee Allred of Rose ! Hill and Kay Autry of ! Kenansville. All bridge players are in vited to play every Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at the General Store in Kenans- \ ? ville. t ? Liberty Hall Bridge Club ' Mrs. J.J. Wells was 8 hostess for the Liberty Hall ' Bridge Club Wednesday night with Mrs. Martha P. Sitterson and Mrs. Martha Swann Substituting for two of the absent members. Mrs. Louise W. Mitchell captured the high score for members and Mrs. Swann for the visiting players. For refresh ments, Mrs. Wells served ice cream and cookies with salted nuts and coffee. Pig Plckin' Mr. and Mrs. Bert Ala baster entertained about 50 of their son Brad's school friends at a pig-picking Saturday night at the Gen eral Store. Along with the barbecue, they enjoyed slaw, potato salad, soft drinks, doughnuts and cookies. The happy occasion was in cele bration of Brad's 14th birth day. After the meal they enjoyed dancing. Assisting with the chaperoning were Mr. and Mrs. Cad Upchurch of Dunn. Mr. and Mrs. Jarvis Langdon of Fayetteville, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hughes and Mrs. Colon Hol land. Past Matrons and Patrons The monthly meeting of the Past Matrons and Patrons of Kenansville Chapter #215, Order of the Eastern Star, was held Monday in Warsaw at Car ion's Restaurant for a dutch >upper. Members included: Celia and J.B. Stroud, Pannie and Walter Rhodes. Doris and Robert Chestnutt, Virginia Holland, Pearl Mc jowen, Louise K. Boney, rhelma Murphy, Ruby New on, Inez Chestnutt and Kathleen P. Snyder, who had is her guests, Mamie and 4erman Sawyer.
