LM)umar | MAGNOLIA'S notable golf er, Abbie Smith, will come out of semi-retirement and again play in the annual LP Gas Golf Tournament staged each year at Lakewood Country Club located between Kenansville and Magnolia. Pro Doug Smith expects a good turnout this week (April 21st) and was pleased to announce Abbie will again be here and parti cipate. ***** Southern Wayne Country Club Pro Rick Murphy re ports the team of Gene and Ctif Rose won the two-man invitational held at his club this past weekend with rounds of 67-68. Nelson Pre cythe and W.K. Lewis came in second with a 67-69, followed in third was the twosome of Tom Johnson and Woody Caton with a 69-69. Murphy was pleased with the 40 teams participat ing in the spring event. ***** Rockfish Pro Jim Finch announces an Adult/Juniors golf tourney on tap next Sunday, April 24. "We have been so wet with all the recent rains," Finch said. Rockfish will host the Har rell's golf team and four other schools on April 21st. Rockfish will again stage the annual Spring Fest two-man best ball May 21-22. Finch and clubmember Ronnie Boone will play in the Pro President tournament at Highland CC in Fayetteville on Friday of this week. ***** Duplin Pro Rick Green ^announces a Member Member or Member-Guest scheduled for April 20 and May 1 at his club. Players will enjoy a special short order dinner and each player will be flighted following first round. Entry fee is S50. ???*? Lakewood Pro Doug Smith reports an Invitational at LCC April 30 May 1. LP Gas will again be held at Lakewood on Thursday of this week. Eastern Turf will also meet at Lakewood on April 28. Ladies night in the new clubhouse is really going over in a big way at Lake wood every Tuesday night and you are invited to join. ????? Fore. BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Thompson and Jason would like to announce the birth of Adam Joshua on March 19, 1983. The paternal grand parents are Monroe Thompson of Pink Hill and Mrs. Hazel Taylor, also of Pink Hill. Maternal grand parents are Mrs. Doris Bell of Pink Hill and the late Rupert Turner. Mrs. Thompson is the former Avie Turner. GOSPEL SING There will be a Gospel Sing program at St. Mary's United Holy Church, Kenansville, the 4th Sunday, April 24, at 3 p.m. featuring LaVone Hicks of Warsaw. She will be accompanied by Tony Edmondson of Raleigh and others. The public is invited.
