The winners were: First Place - Marty Fife of Kenansville and Angel Warren of Pink Hill; Second - Doug Hunter and Norman Sandlin, both of Beulaville; Third - Recie and Lee AHred. both of Rose Hill. The Spring Charity Game will be played Thursday. April 28. Entry fees for this special session are S2.50. One dollar and fifty cents for each Dlaver will be contri buted to the American Con tract Bridge League Charity foundation. The monies col lected at the ACBL Charity Games held by approximately 5,000 official ly sanctioned duplicate bridge clubs in North America are distributed to non-profit charitable organi zations.' All bridge players are invited to attend the Thursday evening game at The General Store in Kenansville at 7 p.m. A new daytime game of duplicate bridge will begin on Monday, May 2. The game will be played at The General Store in Kenansville at 10 a.m. Any bridge player interested in learning to play duplicate bridge is en couraged to attend. Betty McCain To Address Duplin Democrats Saturday Betty R. McCain of Wilson will be the keynote speaker at the 1983 Duplin County Democratic Convention to be held at I p.m. on Saturday. April 30. at the courthouse in Kenansville. Betty McCain Mrs. McCain was origin ally from Faison and was the first lady to serve as chairman of the N.C. Demo cratic Party. She is currently a member of the Democratic National Committee and of the state advisory budget commission. Duplin Democratic chair man Melvin Williams said. "Betty McCain is one of the most humorous and enter taining speakers in the state. We are honored that she can be our keynote speaker. The convention will fea ture the election of a new county chairman, three vice chairmen. a secretary and a treasurer. Two members of the State Democratic Execu tive Committee will also be elected. The convention will vote on several resolutions and will honor four Democrats who have died in recent years. Chairman Williams said. "All delegates and all other interested Democrats are encouraged to attend the convention and help organize Duplin County for the crucial 1484 elections." Exhibit Steers Duplin County 4-H and FFA members participated in the Coastal Plains Live stock Show and Sale held in Kinston March 21 and 22. Sixteen members exhibited 64 hogs and six steers. The livestock projects start in September with the selec tion of steers. By showtime, the steers should weigh be tween 1.000 and 1,200 pounds, grade choice, and be halter-broke so they can be led around the show ring. The feeder pigs for the show are chosen in November. At showtime, the pigs must weigh at least 200 pounds. "Though the pigs need not be halter-broken, they should be tame enough so the exhibitor can herd the choice of his pigs in the ring," stated Keith J.
