Kennedy and Louise Mercer.
Stanley Bratcher. who has
been living in South Carolina
for several years, has moved
back to his native home here.
Bratcher will be living in the
home next to his mother,
Louise Mercer. His many
friends and relatives
welcome Stanley.
Rev. and Mrs. Garland
Foushee visited with Sadie
Fenderburk in New Hanover
Hospital in Wilmington on
the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Julian
Lanier and girls. Julia and
Joni of Knightdale spent the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Graham Lanier and her
parents in the Chinquapin
area.
Mrs. Nick Hodges of
Charlotte and Mrs. Russell J.
Lanier of Wrightsville Beach
are spending a few days with
Hazel Brinson. who is re
cuperating from eye surgery
at the hospital in Greenville.
William R Atkinson has
moved from a mobile home
into one of the HUD homes
on Highway 41 across from
the National Guard Armory.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Turner and the Jerry Cottles
of Clinton spent the weekend
in Charlotte. In addition to
sightseeing, they visited with
Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Ken
nedy and children.
Erma Batts is a patient in
N.C. Memorial Hospital in
Chapel Hill. She had surgery
there.
Mrs. Phoebe Pate is re
cuperating at home after
surgery in Chapel Hill
several days ago.
Mrs. L.M Bostic left
during the weekend to spend
ten days with her son and
family, the Rev. and Mrs.
Ken Smith and daughters.
She will be keeping her
grandchildren while the
Smiths are attending a
seminar in Tennessee.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave
Bennyfteld and Mitchell, and
Kay Brock and Minnie
Benson spent several days
with Victor Brock, who is in
the Army and stationed in
Fort Knox. Kay remained
with her husband in Ken
tucky.
Minnie Benson attended
the wedding of a friend's
daughter in Trenton. She will
stay with her granddaughter
for several days.
Betty Jean Cottle of
Goldsboro spent several days
here with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Norman Sandlin Sr.
Her sister. Peggy S. Whaley
was a patient in Duplin
General and she visited her
there.
Mary Lee Baits was
honored with a big birthday
dinner at her home Sunday
' by her children. Helping
their mother celebrate were
her son and wife. Lean, who
live near Mrs. Batts. her son
and family of Wallace, her
daughter Elizabeth Brickey
Dunkirk of Maryland, as well
as her brothers. Dockie
Sandlin. J M. Sandlin and
I family. Thelma and Bob
Quinn of Kenansville. as well
as other friends and guests.

West Virginia arrived Friday
to visit their parents, the

The decendants of the
Sumner families gathered at
the educational building of
the Sandy Plain Free Will
Baptist Church April 24 with
dinner being served after
morning worship services.

Extension Service.
In the O.S.. a burglar
enters someone's home
every 12 seconds. Larceny,
thefts and burglaries are
increasing to an alarming
degree in Duplin County. In
March. 20 larcenies and six
burglaries were reported.
Over $1,400 worth of farm
equipment was stolen in the
Lyman community during
March.
This program will help you

guard your surroundings and
equipment. The home eco
nomics program committee
of the Duplin County AES is
