NC 28349 ' MAY 5. 1983 GROUNDBREAKING - Approximately 200 people gathered at the corner of Central Avenue and Walnut Street in Pink Hill for the official groundbreaking of the new Pink Hill Medical Center. Construction of the 2.700 square toot facility began on Monday by Farrior & Son of Farmville. The building includes a reception area, two business offices, six examination rooms, a trauma room and an area which can be converted into an X-ray office. Dr. Edwin Little, who has agreed to set up practice in Pink Hill, was present for the goundbreaking. He is presently completing his residency at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital in Johnstown. Pa. Even though she could not ride a bike, she set a goal to walk five miles and to raise as much money as she could to help C. F. Most of you know Rachel, but to those who don't, she is a 20-year-old young lady who learned two weeks before her 18th birthday on April 1. 1481, that she was suffering frtim a brain tumor. The doctor said she couldn't live wjthout an operation, which left her paralized in her left side. She could not walk for a long time, but with God's help. She is now walking. She still can't use her left hand, but 1 know God does perform miracles. Thanks to Linda West brook, Pat Turner and Mary Ann Byrd for walking some of the way with Rachel, and special thanks to Brad Sandlin. her nephew, who walked each step of the way. Rachel raised over $440 a fid we are very proud of her. Her Family Annual Firemen s Appreciation Dinner The annual Firemen's Ap preciation supper was held Tuesday night at the Pink Hill Fire Department. The event was sponsored by the Pink Hill Business and Pro fessional organization and attended by several hundred local supporters. Dr. Joe Stark, president of the Business and Profes sional Club, presented plaques to Donald Heath, Rescueman of the Year, and to Ronnie K. Heath. Fireman of the Year. T.J. Turner, general chair man of the Pink Hill Medical Center project, briefly ad dressed the group on the progress of the new building. Dr. Edwin Little, who has agreed to establish his prac tice here, and wife Naricy, were present. Har-Scott Celebrates Anniversary Har Scott, Inc. of Pink Hill celebrated their 13th year in business on Wednesday by honoring their employees and special guests with a buffet luncheon. Employees honored for 10 or more years of employment were: Margie Howard. 10 years. 7 months; Grace New berne, 13 years; Marie Smith. 13 years; and Harold Stroud Jr.. 10 years. 10 months.
