DUFFEl ^ f ~\* DUPLIN WINNERS in the Member-Member golf tour nament held this past weekend included overall winners, left to right, John McGuire, Jackie Brown, Frank Potter and Jerry Smith. Both teams were tied 25 under par with McGuire and Brown winning in sudden death. Con eratulations to both teams. LAKEWOOD COUNTRY CLUB enjoyed the likes of such golf stanouts as, left to right, Wallace's Jim "Chevy" Russ, Warsaw's Tiny Carr, standing, Wallace's Wesley Scronce, and Rose Hill's Billy Thomas. The Chevy team was voted the foursome with plenty of class by the clubhouse officials during the Captain's Choice last weekend. LAKEWOOD COUNTRY CLUB winners in the Captain s Choice four-man tourney held this past weekend were, left to right, Bobby Blanton. Melvin Pope, Wade Biddix and Michael Standi. Pro Rick Green reports the i team of John McGuire and Jackie Brown beat the combo of Frank Potter and Jerry Smith in sudden-death to win the Member-Member held at Duplin Country Club last weekend Mark Vinson and Robin Albertson were in third in the championship flight. Rex Moody and Jay Bundy won the first flight with the teams of Colin Quinn and Jack Hill, and Fisher Carlton and Gerald Quinn tied for second. Sonny Kitchin teed it up with Carl Price to claim first in the scond flight, while Charles Taylor and partner Lavene Padgett tied Norwood West and Dwight Kirby for second place. Pro Doug Smith also re ports the team of Dennis Beasley, Keith Benton, Ja<? Cart and Ronnie Boone look top honors in the Captain's Choice at Lake wood Country Club this past weekend. Dalton Rouse and team of Fennell Smith. Joe Batts, Steve Drew and Wade Ward took second. Wade Bid&ix, Michael Standi, Melvin Pope and Bobby Blanton were low in the third, while Henry Carlton's team of Ivey Jones, Ronnie Rich, Joe Wilson and Wayne Lanier took third. Closest-to-pin for the two <*ay event were Robert Mat thews and Ivey Jones. ***** I Pro Jim Finch announces clinics for the ladies will be held Tuesday, May 3, start ing at 6:30 in the afternoon at Rockfish CC. Finch reminds area golfers of the Springfest coming up at RCC Saturday and Sunday, May 21-22. The Blue Water Band will play at the Springfest, which will also include two exciting days of golf for only S70 per team and that includes carts for the two-man tourney. ***** Once again Pro Rick Mur phy announces the all-out Ladies annual Invitational to be staged at Southern Wayne Country Club of Mount Olive o on May 31st. The tournament format includes a four-man best-ball superball with a pig picking Friday night foflowed by a dance by the Catalinas. Saturday night will be even brighter, with 18 holes of golf and another dinner of prime beef with music and dancing by the Breeze Band. Sunday will end three days of golfing, fellowship, dining and dancing for only $100 per player. If you like golf you want to be in on this one. Fore. No. 1 NCSU Seniors To Play For Benefit In Kenansville The Seniors from North Carolina State University, 1983 championship basket ball team, will be in Kenans ville on Sunday, May 15th. The Kenansville Jaycees are sponsoring the game, which will be at 3 p.m. at Kenan Auditorium with all proceeds going to the health care of Lori Mitchell. The N.C.S.U. seniors will play a team made up of local Jaycees and area school dis- > trict basketball stars. Advanced tickets will be S4 and can be purchased at the following area businesses: Kenansville - Kenansville Drug Store, UCB, NCNB; Beulaville- UCB; Warsaw - BB&T; and at Faison Phar macy. Standing behind West and Kirby is the father-son combo of Sandy Sanderson and Hebert Sanderson of Coharie CC in Clinton. Sandy, an All-Three Rivers Class AAA performer at Clinton High School, and a four handicapper. will play in the sectional golf Finals in Sanford during May.
